Brisbane legend Gary Belcher wants Darius Boyd should switch to centre

Badge makes sense....particularly the last sentence quoted; that's a huge historical strength of this club, the ability to attract and keep the best talent for footballing reasons and not for the money...

But again this stuff goes round and round......this SHOULDNT even be a conversation.....where do we hide Boyd, fullback, then 5/8th...now centre..??

This whole charade is a absolute shit show....he isn't being moved to improve our chances of winning....the club itself is now pushing an agenda via podcast, media stories etc to "justify" the indefensible...

I thought this club was above this crap....???

The thing about it all is, we tapped club legends, guys with 200+ games for the club, on the shoulder when we felt the time was right. Boyd isn't a club legend imo, and has played over half his career elsewhere - why are we so gun shy to say time is up Darius.

It really is quite sad that it's come to this for Boyd.

He deserved to go out a champion. At his best, he was arguably the best fullback in the game but it looks like he has played on a year too long and that's how people are going to remember him. As a player that has played on too long.

He still has his moments of brilliance, that pass to Corey Oates against Manly for example, but those moments are becoming more rare.

Hopefully a switch can get his mojo back and he can go out the way he deserves.

Anyone put out by the headline? I thought Crash was above that. The guy hasnt played a single game at our club yet calls him a Brisbane legend? Its a long bow to somehow draw a paralell with Souths Magpies.
Im not one for conspiracy but is this some kind of news corp agenda to do the rounds and get commentary form anyone in the hope Darius reads just one story and ends up walking away? If so they should just contact BHQ. :)

He's already said it's just white noise to him. Everyone else is wrong, apparently.

Boyd should move to ISC or better yet Retirement.

Should've used their other headline.

Pic attached: Belcher: Centre is Boyd's last chance.

The thing is right, Boyd playing next year means he has to either take a spot of a better player or Seibold has to make the "tough" call.

If he plays center next year that likely means he is playing above Bird which is insanity.

The only way I can see Seibold worming his way out of dropping Boyd would be to have Bird at 6, Ah.. This is nonsense just drop the dead weight already

As a part-time Hawthorn fan, it has been interesting to compare how they have handled the transition of Jarryd Roughead (who is arguably a FAR superior legend of the club than Boyd at the Broncos). He's been given the "leadership and mentoring" role in the lower grades and when injuries to the top grade have happened they've brought him back up. They're also giving him the honour of a farewell game against the lowly Suns.

He's handled himself with dignity and hasn't tarnished his legacy one bit.

On the other hand, you have darius boyd......

Interesting you should say that: if Boyd and Macca are gone, Bird might be back to being our whipping boy again. He was one of our better backs before he got injured, but his power move was running sideways - rather than risk passing - in the most dysfunctional backline in the NRL.

I was literally just thinking about this and you have taken the words out of my mouth. Roughy’s dropping was handled with far more class than this debacle with Boyd has become as well.

I mean does Boyd have ANY Broncos fan actually supporting him?

That backline didn’t look quite as dysfunctional with Turps in Dearden in it, just goes to show how important he spine is.

I feel Boyd is just delusional. I watched a clip with Thurston after the Cowboys. The guy says he is calling the shots. What shots exactly.

Are the Broncos treating him different because of his MH history. Afraid he can't handle being dropped or moved on. The spin from the club just seems to prove tjat Seibs is being held back on calling the play on Boyd.

Its very strange that a club would allow any player to continue on playing and making 1 run for 5 meters. That is not just a one off this year either. Same stat against the knights from fullback.

How many years has the coach been at Hawthorne though and how many premierships have they won under him.

The coach has earned the right to make those calls without stirring "outrage" from the media, etc.

FWIW I think Darius finishes the year in center... with Bird out Darius is actually our best left center option.

Next year a center pairing of Bird and Boyd is plausible (or Boyd and Staggs), but I think heaven and earth will be moved to get him out of the club in the off season

Thank GOD for some past player to come out & admit strongly that Boyd’s place in the team is either at center or out altogether. We’ve watched him play so painfully at 1 the last couple of years & cant take him anymore at 6 in a short period of time. Let the experiment of him playing at center begin this Friday until season end. Upon seasons end, just get rid off him altogether I say.

Oh ive always been a Boyd fan....happy to put my hand up there....he has been a great servant to the club and helped us win a premiership in 06.

I appreciate the battles he has had from MH issues....im afflicted by some myself...and he is a wonderful role model for others who are suffering something similar...

But, much like Langer....it comes time to put head above heart and admit that the club comes first..and its that time now for Darius....

And just like Langer....ill support the decision of the club to move on and be devastated by it at the same time...

An immortal was tapped on the shoulder.
