NEWS Why the Broncos went hard to secure Croft

I mean, as harsh as it may be, we can just flick Palasia out of our top 30 now right?
Maybe. Hope so. I really don’t know how it works but it just doesn’t seem right that we can sign more than 30 to legal contracts with the intention of breaking some before the deadline. So either we anticipated an injury would happen and we could drop that contract out before the deadline or we have been working behind the scenes to get someone to voluntarily walk away (perhaps to a better deal somewhere). Like I said I don’t actually know but the whole process seems strange to me and I would love for someone to really explain it.

We don't know but some of these players might be put into the second tier development or be on train and trial contracts. From what i know the squad only has to be 30 man compliant by 30th June. Its hard to find and "legal" documents around this though.

Fact is digs about Milford's weight are warranted, everyone wants to see him be his best while he's playing. It doesn't really matter what the coach weighs.
Be easier to cop a bloke telling you to lose weight if he wasn’t shoving a pie in his gob as he was telling you though.

No I think being given 1million dollars a year should be enough motivation. Trent Robinson could stand to lose a few kilos as well and he has gone b2b. Anyway, I won't derail the thread any further.

That is the true point, what possible relevance does this have to a thread topic about Brodie Croft? What are your thoughts about whether he will be a success or failure Tom? Do you think he is a better option than what we have at this stage of their career development?

Think he is a very good buy considering the resources available to us. As I have said elsewhere my only worry is if he keeps the spot over Dearden and Dearden leaves to become the next superstsar for someone else but I think at this stage the positives well and truly outweigh the negatives. We can argue about who the better option for 7 is once next season is underway.

Yep I agree, I just wish it would be made official. We have been dudded too many times by the Storm or Bellamy or Storm players (not suggesting Brodie would dud us) that until it is all official and I see him at training, I have that doubt that it will all fall through.

Ideally Croft becomes the next Cronk and Dearden kills it for 2 seasons in reserves. Then we have a decade half pairing of 7. Croft and 6. Dearden and Milford can move on and use that money to sign the best available fullback - RTS, Ponga, Tedesco etc

He'll get plenty of NRL game time this season. Don't you worry about that.

If he kicks down the door and forms a strong partnership with Croft well that’s even better.

I’m really hoping Milf can get a handle on FB over this off season because if he becomes a first class 1 then the team basically picks itself.

1. Milford
2. Oates
3. Bird
4. Staggs
5. Isaako
6. Dearden
7. Croft
8. Haas
9. Macca (for 20)
10. Lodge
11. Glenn (c)
12. Fifita
13. Carrigan

14. Turpin
15. TPJ
16. Flegler
17. Offa

You could argue a few different combinations concerning hooker and the forwards but that would be close to the team you’s run out.

The pie eater would delegate that task to a strength and conditioning coach who should also employ a nutritionist.
