He also said he'd let all his religious social media posts be scrutinised and approved before posting them, undertake training about acceptable media presence etc. As a condition of his contract. Willingly.

the simple fact is he can't be trusted ... in fact not long after his twitter post that got him sacked, he blamed the bushfire crisis on gay marriage ...

it's a moot point anyway ... he is done as a sports person in this country. no NRL club will take the risk on him, so we'll never find out if he will win a discrimination case against the NRL.

Believe he made similar assurances to RU after his first offence.

If the NRL's defence is that they can't risk what his behaviour will be in the future based on past behaviour, I'd imagine Folau's response would be to table a long list of miscreants who have done much worse (some more than once) and have been allowed back into the game.
Perhaps those examples all signed good behavior agreements (or equivalent) or agreed to certain standards like Folau apparently did overseas.

One of the unspoken costs that comes along with winning a settlement like he did against the ARU is that other organisations will now factor that risk into any potential decision to investigate or recruit Folau.

The risk for any club or organisation who takes him on would likely be too great that they too might find themselves being drawn into a lengthy legal dispute and the financial fallout from that, so I'd expect they will all steer well clear.

Technically, I guess, that might be discriminatory, but since football clubs don't invite job applications that can be rejected and then contested by the applicant like a normal workplace, the chances of Folau ever being able to establish to an acceptable legal standard that he is being discriminated against by anyone in Australia are virtually nil.

Fair call!

From WWOS:

And from the horse's mouth himself - clicky click.

So we'll include everyone...except people who publicly say what we don't like... :derrrrp:

Even that quote from Beattie doesn't say the NRL won't register him due to his religious beliefs, it says Izzy doesn't pass their inclusiveness culture policy.

Now he (or anyone) can say all they like that the reason Izzy fails the inclusiveness culture policy is due to his religious beliefs, but that would need to be proven.

Plenty of non-Christians hate the gays, and plenty of Christians are inclusive and tolerant of them.

So it's actually not his religious belief, it's just his belief - informed by his religion, sure, but it still is merely his interpretation.

The Hoggman is moving to Townsville to play with the Blackhawks. Wonder if he will end up at the cows?

the Sharks have rejected Josh Morris' release request.

Josh wanted to leave the Sharks and sign with the Roosters

Was about to post this, Morris is reportedly "filthy"

not sure if he was also filthy about the rejection of his request ... but reportedly filthy that they signed Ramien ...

I don't know why a 33 year old was upset about his club planning for the future when he only has a year or so to go in his career

Dugan is touch and go, so the Sharks are holding onto Morris in the mean time. It's highly unlikely that Duges will be able to play a full season and increasingly likely that he'll retire at the end of the year.

The Roosters want Josh Morris as a stop gap before they sign Xerri for 2021.

it was reported recently that Dugan wanted to be medically retired, but the Sharks doctor didn't think it would be approved by the NRL ... i also recall reading that Dugan's camp didn't agree, so when to see an independent doctor.

I'm not sure what seeing a different doctor would do ... the Sharks want him and his big contract off their books, if there was even a chance at him being medically retired, they would jump at it

Also Souths have supposedly gone all in on the most in-demand rookie coming through, Joseph Suaalii. The 17-year old fullback took the Harold Matts by storm last year and at 196cm and 96kg has the physique to play NRL.

He certainly sounds like somebody worth keeping an eye on.

Who do you think is the most injury prone between Dugan and Mattai?

That will finalise the Sharks squad.

There's still a few clubs out there that have to sign more players to have a full squad. They include Canberra (2 spots left), Gold Coast (1), Newcastle (2), Parramatta (1), St George (2) and Sydney (2).

Canterbury, Manly, Melbourne, Warriors, North Queensland, Penrith, Souths and Wests have all named 29 players so they have met the requirement but can upgrade a player at will.
