according to Michael Chammas from the SMH, the Bulldogs are willing to release Nick Cotric, Luke Thompson and Corey Allan to clear up space in the salary cap.

Sounds more like..............the Bulldogs are needing to release Nick Cotric, Luke Thompson and Corey Allan to clear up space in the salary cap.

Its hardly surprising for the Dogs however. You look at their spine last year
1. Meaney
6. Averello
7. Flanagan
9. Marshall King
Any spine player would be a massive improvement on that mess. Gus finally just teaching them to build around the spine not the forward pack

Leilua for 700k a year is crazy money.

If they can coach the laziness out of him, it would be a good deal for the Cowboys.

He's crazy talented and can be hard to stop when he's on, but just like the other Leilua, he can be lazy. By all reports though, he's working hard on becoming an 80 minute backrower.

Well the Dogs will certainly not be holding up the table from the bottom. I don't for a minute think we will be there either. Which means the more I look at it the more I'm thinking a race to the bottom between the Cows, the Tiges and now Parra are starting to come into the picture.

Cows are the worst team easily, but they've been kissed on the dick draw wise... as usual

I don't even think it's even fitness or physical laziness, he is just dumb (or mentally lazy), they both are. Like making errors while trying to push passes or offloads, low-percentage plays that put the team under more pressure. My benchmark is Krisnan Inu, the Warriors are up against the Storm by a slight margin with minutes left, runs the ball out from his in-goal but is holding it in one hand and bumps it against his body and loses it while nobody is within 20 metres of him. The Warriors lose the game. They're that kind of dumb.

Kissed you say? I'm not sure a full-on deep throating will turn their fortunes around.
At this stage cows are basically living balls deep inside Vlando with how much love they get

Add to the reports that Paulo is set to become a dolphin and the eels are a mess
Another reason as to why I am not sure they should be persisting with BA as head coach. He is not terrible but doesn't seem to get players to sacrifice ~50k to 'keep the band together' and he isn't strong enough to influence the Eels management team when they need it.

600k for Mahoney seems on the money for a borderline origin player in a crucial position and at 23 years old should be about to enter his prime. Hard to believe Parra couldn't just give him that in the first round of negotiation and got the deal done early.

Also bad move to prioritise the Gutherson signing over Mahoney imo...he would have been easier to replace and not as attractive in the open market with most teams with better fullback options than hooker.

It's a homecoming of sorts for Reed Mahoney. He was originally with the Bulldogs but was let go and the Eels got themselves exactly the dummy half they desperately needed. Meanwhile the Dogs had to make do with Marshall-King who was completely manufactured for the position and never really excelled there.

Still plenty of moving pieces at the Bulldogs.

I'm happy to see Cotric return to the Raiders. They have some really exciting young backs but having somebody of Cotric's experience will help them, especially once Rapana and Croker call it a day.

I'm going to assume you didn't watch much football last season with those comments. He was very good nearly every week and increased his work rate a huge amount from years gone by.
For what kind of player you can attract at 700k he is no where near worth it. A walking time bomb with rocks in his head just like his brother. He will flop majorly at the cowboys and I will be more than happily to apologize if he proves me wrong but I am extremely confident he wont.

I thought he was the most dangerous player for the Tigers in the middle of the field with his offloads and ability to break a tackle, 700k isn't a bargain buy but for what he can do, it's not a bad signing either.

I dont think is as bad as his brother, but 700k is way, way over the odds. He's very inconsistent so they are paying for potential, and I'm not sure the Cows should be spending that much cash on potential especially when they have some good young back rowers anyway.

I can't believe the Eels have screwed up so badly with Mahoney. Absolute dumb move from them, elite 9s are incredibly rare. Who is their salary cap taken up in? They must have seriously overpaid all of Gutherson, Moses, RCG and Brown squared. When did Paul White become their CEO?

maybe Peter Nolan went back after he was sacked by us

He was never staying at Parra. Blame the King.

I dunno why they blew their load on Brown tbh, he has shown very little imo and is taking up a decent chunk of their cap. Could've let him go to the Warriors when they were offering big money.
