funnily, the report was they could offer the 700k because they missed out on Kikau and they had money set aside for him.

this is a repeat of the Townsend signing IMO. They signed Townsend because they panicked after missing out on Reynolds, signing the first available half. This time they missed out on Kikau, panicked again and went after the first available back rower in Leilua.

Luciano Leilua was one of the better performers at the Tigers, probably one they would have not wanted to have lost, 700k? I wouldn't be rushing out to sign him at that price but it's not in the conversation of the worst deals going around in the NRL, he's a good player

Obviously his short stint with the Warriors where the results were promising but I mean.. interim coaching can't be that hard, you have literally nothing to lose. Coaches who take up interim coaching jobs usually do so knowing that the season is half way gone, the club and the fans know it too.

Seems to have more brain cells than BJ but that could also be said of an inanimate carbon rod.

Payton is looking like a flash in the pan, one season wonder who got worked out. That seems familiar but he doesn't have old boys undermining him at least.

I'm going to assume you didn't watch much football last season with those comments. He was very good nearly every week and increased his work rate a huge amount from years gone by.

apparently reed mahoney has signed with the dogs on a 4 year deal from 2023... he told the eels this morning

not surprising ... The Eels initially low balled him ... then when they eventually revised their offer, they only added an extra 50k a year. (they did add a 3rd year to the offer though)

reports are that the offers were:

Bulldogs - $2.4 million over 4 years (600k a year)
Eels - $1.5 million over 3 years (500k a year; the Eels initial offer was $450k a year for 2 years)

according to Michael Chammas from the SMH, the Bulldogs are willing to release Nick Cotric, Luke Thompson and Corey Allan to clear up space in the salary cap.
