I've read that Fifita is looking at a possible return and I wouldn't turn my back on him completely. But massive pay cut to his salary and alot more commitment to the club would be needed and I don't know if he could achieve that.
i'd take him for 700k. he's worth persisting with given his talent. Maybe his time at the Tits will have allowed some humility to take hold.

The club should come out and say "this is what happens when you leave the Broncos" and not say another word to him. Signing him will regress what we've done in defense completely. He might score some solo tries but that's why this club is successful at the moment, there's nobody trying to do it all themselves.

No thanks, David. Earn your money on the Gold Coast and go to Redcliffe when you're done there.

Not sure we need Fifita tbh. I would take him back in principal but Capewell has at least 2.5 years left on one side and Riki/Piakura will be fighting it out for the other. Ive had a curiosity about Capewell at 13 but with Patty and Hetherington there really isn’t a need to shift him.

I don’t think we need his added strike in attack and if you’re paying him anything over $600k that’s probably money better spent elsewhere.

And that was fine in a team full of stars who could afford a few shit attitude players. Fifita is part of the dick head brigade that had us in the media every week. This team is moving in a different direction and it’s working. We don’t need to go backwards on the no dickhead policy
I don't disagree with what you are saying re: team chemistry. I just think if Fifita is so unhappy and wants to come back, we hold the cards. Buy in or **** off. If he really wants to play for us, he'll be happy to adhere to them.

I wouldn't sign him at all costs (that encompasses your comment @Sproj ), but if he's a possibility then I'd be trying.

Hodges.

You always sign good players if they are available. Only fools hold onto a grudge like schoolyard girls.
Not if they’re going to interrupt the progress made and we don’t have a need for him. If we are spending money it’s not on a second rower because he’s surplus to our needs as well.

We need a fullback and a hooker and if signing him for $5 means we have $5 less for one of those positions then he isn’t worth it

Where does he fit in at the moment? Unless we are losing Riki?

Piakura hasn't done a single thing. He may well be good but he is a complete unknown quantity at this stage.
Yes, but we are paying him a lot of money, so we should probably try and get some return on that

We paid on potential. He is yet to fulfill potential, not necessarily through any fault of his own, but as it stands, he is paid on what he might be. What he currently is, at the moment, is an unknown.

The club has immediately come out and said thanks but no thanks

Ben Ikin Says:

“At this stage we are committed to developing the players we’ve got,” Broncos football chief Ben Ikin said. “While David Fifita is an enormous talent, no one can deny that, we are focused on getting the most out of the players that currently sit in our top 30.

“Jordan is a true professional, he’s got a lot of natural ability but his work ethic is exceptional. He is super fit, trains really hard and has a great attention to detail.

“He is setting himself up for a really solid career. He is an athlete who is still learning how to get the best out of himself from a football perspective. He is still learning the game.

“Capes has got great character. When things get tough, he is the bloke you want around. We are a club that’s rebuilding so there’s going to be a lot of difficult moments as we go from the bottom four to contending again.

“In those tough moments, he has the mental toughness and fortitude to guide that’s predominantly a young squad through those challenging times.

“The other thing I love about Capes is he won’t cop anyone missing their assignment, ever. He doesn’t and he has the fortitude to call out others that do. That is helping us lift the standards right across the group.”
