INJURED

LATEST JUDICIARY

What the heck was that Canberra idiot even doing? That was one example of MANY last night where our dudes kept getting hit late / off the ball and not a peep from the ref.

I noticed Hudson Young come in with knees on Herbie's first try as well.

Was well late and completely unnecessary, but broncos so play on

The thing is, that is direct contract to the head of a player without the ball right? He has clearly changed his line to get in his way. This has then forced Mam from the field for a HIA. He may not have deliberately got him in the head with his shoulder but he shouldn't have been getting in his way in the first place. That should have been a penalty on report right?

Of course it should. It was the bunker that demanded he come off so it’s not like they were not aware of what happened. Absolute Bullshit that he was not put on report First.

Should’ve allowed for the 18th man to be utilised too.

The Canberra guy wasn’t even looking, there’s nothing in it.

complete accident, play on.

Herbie needs surgery. Paix out for 4-6 weeks. Staggs, Martin, Oates, Haas and even Reynolds are said to be a chance to play against Melbourne.

Broncos Update:

The Broncos can provide an update on a number of players in the wake of the win over the Canberra Raiders last night after medicals and scans today at the Clive Berghofer Centre Qscan facility.

Broncos Head Of Performance Dave Ballard said: “Herbie Farnworth has sustained a ruptured biceps and will undergo surgery and be out for an extended period.

"The club will be providing all the help and support that Herbie needs during that period.

“Cory Paix has picked up a Grade 2 strain of the MCL in his knee and is looking at a 4-6 week recovery.

“Payne Haas had an x-ray on his shoulder which came back clear and we will assess him over coming days before making a decision on Friday night’s game.

“It’s a similar situation for Adam Reynolds who has sustained an injury to his Costochondral Junction in a rib and will prepare to take on the Storm.

“Te Maire Martin and Corey Oates both had clear scans today and will report for training on Monday.

“Kotoni Staggs has been cleared of any major damage after he sustained a corked shoulder in Wednesday night’s Origin and will continue his rehab in preparation to play on Friday night.”

If that's the case, I think the best option would be to play Kobe at 14. He could play in the middle when he first comes on, say at the 25 minute mark and then give Billy a break at 9 from about 30-55 because with half time, that gives Billy about 30 minutes to recharge. Kobe can then either be subbed out or revert back to the middle until about 60/65.

If we're only missing Paix and Herbie, I like our chances.

Fingers crossed. We need to get Reynolds a steel jersey.

There’s some good news in there at least. Last nights carnage isn’t going to be as bad as originally feared.

Based on the update I expect Haas to play, he'll want to get a run and make himself available for origin (I don't think Haas should be playing, but broncos don't appear to be his priority at the moment...)

I'm not sure Reynolds will be risked though... We need him and we're running desperately short on halfbacks, but do we really want Reyno exposed to the jiu jitsu dark arts of the storm, especially when they know he's injured... or do we just give him 2 weeks break and get him ready to line up against the cows.

Staggs, TMM, etc. all look likely to play... Turps comes in for Paix and we hope that Paix is ready to go for Rd 17 when the origin players will be out. Noticed that Turps didn't play for Wynnum today so I'm guessing he was pulled in preparation for a return to NRL??

Give them the week off.

With an extra bye the following week, they should be good to go for Cowboys.
Can’t agree more. Give them all the week off. That’s 3 weeks break for most of them. Short term loss. Long term gain. Horrible news for Herbie.

If you haven't noticed they never do this sort of stuff. Kobe has done no reps at hooker for probably two years. They aren't going make him play 80 minutes and cover two positions it just won't happen. Turpin will be in the side or Billy will play 80 minutes

And they haven’t been doing that for good reason.

Kobe is not a hooker. A couple of good passes that time he played there a couple of years ago doesn’t make him suited for the position, and he’s not someone you would want there at the back end of halves.

100% with you on that, particularly for ARey. Cotton wool, get him right or he could face even longer on the side lines and miss games we should win.

Let's be realistic, we're a snowball's chance of beating Melbourne with Paps back when half our team are the walking wounded. Put the artillery on ice, give the kids a run, tell them to go out there and have some fun, not to care about the scoreboard.

Then aim up for the cowgirls.
