I think there’s a medium ground between Kevvie and Stuart’s approaches to the poor refereeing which is optimal.
Ricky whinges and bitches and moans about everything to the point where you don’t even listen to him anymore and it creates a culture of blaming others and lack of accountability in the playing group.
Kevvie is the exact opposite, can watch an avalanche of completely inept, ridiculous and one-sided calls and refuses to say anything which is also not helpful because invariably the squeaky wheel always gets the grease especially with the hyper-reactive NRL.
As much as I don’t like him, I think Trent Robinson handles it perfectly - puts the NRL on notice that the calls are wrong and ridiculous and amateur, BUT at the same time gives praise to the winning team, concedes that these things happen and that his team needs to be good enough to overcome them to win. Best of both worlds.
