Updating Roster for 2025. If you spot any errors or omissions, please let me know.

Thanks for that McHunt.....that HAS to see some huge changes on it before game 1 2025...

That's where I am critical of Kevie.

You re-sign Paix at the start of 2023 only to go completely off him mid-way through the season for no discernable reason. It wasn't like Cory's form dropped, if anything it was Billy who had some questionable performances up until that game against Cronulla.

If you can remember, Kev gave Billy an extended stint in the middle and he played one of his better games that night. It seemed like Billy's game went from strength to strength, meanwhile Paix was dropped and in spite of Smoothy's wayward start (he was a punching bag for some on here) Cory never got another look in.

Cory has to take some responsibility as well. I'd describe his form in QCup as patchy - there are flashes of brilliance but he's never quite been able to put it altogether.

Still, the Broncos committed to him. It was there responsibility to make him the best that he can be and if they were so desperate to get rid of him, wouldn't it be in their best interest to make him look desirable?

There's always going to be criticism surrounding Billy because of the conflict of interest. There's no shame in that and while I think some of the blame is unwarranted this is a situation where Billy was favoured and received more opportunities than somebody else and it's come back to hurt the club.

I'm also not a huge fan of the two-year deal. I'd have to imagine he's on more than Paix, so realistically let's say he's on $500,000. That's a fair chunk of change for somebody who shouldn't be guaranteed a spot in the 17.

Let's be generous and say the Broncos only offered Billy the same deal as Paix, that's still $650,000 tied into one position. So whatever argument that can be made in terms of value is out the window.

While I'm on my soapbox, it's time to remember that the cap is $11.4 million. The average price divided by 30 is 380,000. Minimum wage is a 135,000 and some clubs are very shrewd with how they operate their squads (did the Broncos even have a Top 30 come July 1st?). So $300,000 is about what you'd expect to pay the average first grade player.

Just something to think about because it's easy to get caught up in the past where $300,000 was marquee money.

So that's 27 players under contract for 2025. With rumours that Baker, Hetherington and Paix are on the outer, the Broncos would have still fulfilled their obligation to announce a 24 man squad by November 1st. With Black and Semu confirmed on development deals, I presume Trew is sticking around and Bukowski would be in the mix with Allen, Armstrong, Innes, Bryce, Vunipola etc. there-abouts.

I think it's that time again to play everybody's favourite game: the Price is Right.

Brisbane Broncos 2025 edition

Let's round it up to the closest 100

Jesse Arthars - 400K
Fletcher Baker - 400K
Patrick Carrigan - 900K
Selwyn Cobbo - 600K
Jack Gosiewski - 100K
Payne Haas - 1.1 Million
Kobe Hetherington - 400K
Delouise Hoeter - 100K
Jaiyden Hunt - 100K
Corey Jensen - 400K
Israel Leota - 100K
Jock Madden - 300K
Ezra Mam - 800K
Deine Mariner - 400K
Blake Mozer - 300K
Cory Paix - 300K
Brendan Piakura - 600K
Adam Reynolds - 700K
Jordan Riki - 600K
Tyson Smoothy - 300K
Kotoni Staggs - 800K
Martin Taupau - 200K
Ben Te Kura - 400K
Reece Walsh - 500K
Billy Walters - 400K
Xavier Willison - 400K

11.6, so unfortunately for me, that's over the cap and can't be the case. That's even before adjusting to the minimum which is $130K.

I'm clearly off on a few of these, are there any projections there that are clearly off?

I thought Piakura was only on 400K but maybe he was bumped up somewhere along the way.

Reportedly that was what he was on from 2022-24.

He's now viewed as a starter, so you'd have to presume his pay has increased.

Cobbo and piakura on 600k I hope not

Riki can’t be on 600k…my brain won’t believe it…makes the 325k for Paix look shrewd.

Wouldn't be shocked if it was around 500,000 but couldn't picture it being much lower than that.

Guaranteed starter, coming off a break-out season and viewed as a future leader of the club - he's not a moneyball signing.

That was the final year of the deal he signed in 2021.

He would have been upgraded.
More than likely, though doesn't mention a upgrade just a extension of his current contract but as you stated above after 23 there would be a upgrade there i'd say 450-500k probably around what Capewell was on.
He's probably one of the guys who would take unders.
