Well, theres another point to make here too.

The way Madge is handling Paynes minutes. It takes concerntration and energy to accurately throw those passes, to recognise he can get 1v1 against a smaller, leg tacking opponent...

Shorter spells with 100% effort.

This is the Payne Haas you get...

That`s what Big Willie Mason is saying . Front loading he called it , gimme 30 mins flat out then take a rest .
Quality over quantity . I reckon he has worked on cardio and losing some weight in off season .
I reckon Paix saw their middle out of the play and said fck it I`m going . But beatiful execution in the end .

Be Interesting to see as the season progresses if these are all planned moves.

The Shiba try Paix has 3 runners on his right and one out the back but Hunt reacts perfectly to what Paix does.

The Paix try Payne looks a lot more ready for the ball but nearly over runs it.
The reaction from Hunt not getting the ball on the 5th tackle looks as though he never wanted or expected it.
Would like to see how similar this try was to the trial one off the Jensen offload.

Having both Reynolds and Hunt out there, we've got 2 guys now getting the boys to points on the field to run plays.
The Bhunt set up with 3 outside him is him being able to play a short side.

It's something that we basically don't get anything from out of Ezra... he'll park himself on the blind, because that's his edge, but I barely recall him being much of a threat there and that has to become his bread and butter for a half. Bhunt could've had a few more down that blindside earlier in the game but Paix went open, just before that play we had a stoppage (maybe the Radley HIA) and I wouldn't be surprised if Ben had a word to him about getting him the ball when he wants it.

Walsh also does not play short sides anywhere near enough despite being massive threat there. He created his try by setting up the blindside and then following through.

I remember in his first trial game for Broncos at 18 he was such a massive threat down the blind, but it's like it is something that has dropped out of his game, because he's been needed to continually be available out the back of shape.

I'm hoping we see way more of it, because Walsh going down a blind side against a retreating defence and him creating the numbers is so so dangerous

It makes sense. If the team is winning well, why change it.

For now I would say Walters. Billy is good for his 20min stints, and covers more positions than Mam. Can Mam even play 9? I'm not a fan of moving players around to accommodate Mam either i.e Hunt to 9 for half the match.
Just put mam in q cup for whole year and only time he gets to play nrl is through state of origin. When the series if done back to q cup.

Optimistic of you to assume we'll get through the year without either Hunt or especially Reynolds getting injured. Very unlikely Mam doesn't see a decent amount of game time.

Could even see him playing as the Utility and shifting Hunt to Dummy Half to relieve Paix throughout the course of the game.

Madge the sleeper cell.

Yeah I'm probably pessimistic as well, but injuries are inevitable (touch wood it doesn't but lets be real lol). Mam will 100% have opportunities to play this year.

Paix`s little dummy inside was key . Got the markers out of the equation . The opposition winger is hanging back for a kick .Creating the extra man. I see lots of opportunities to run on last plays , but the "structure" dictates the kick .

Surely Horse-brah over Patty-brah

I have to be honest and say my posting frequency is considerably lower than last season. I never watched a game this year until the Bronco’s game.

All the shit decisions, the six again farce, the ambivalent attitude of the NSWcentric media and the NRL regarding Walsh getting constantly head-hunted has severely turned me off the game.

I’m finding it difficult to get excited about the game in the present state it’s in.
I'm the same. The inconsistency of officiating and the 6 again nonsense has turned me off it. I haven't watched a game outside of Broncos games and Origin in a few years now.

how I have missed these!

- I'm so happy to be back, especially with the boys I played with through the 20s
- I had nothing on for last year and so had a train and trial with Wynnum and I got flogged, I wasn't ready and needed to work on my body
- I needed to listen to what Maguire said and did and it wasn't my intention to make it back but being around the boys, I got excited again
- Being around the boys made me want to give it another crack and it has worked, I'm proud of that
- I have really bought into what Maguire said and so I worked on all the basics and have been rewarded for that
- Me and Cobbo worked hard together and he's flying, loving his footy again
- When Cobbo is on, he is one of the most damaging backs in the NRL
- Every preseason is hard but we went a little bit extra and so now we are comfortable playing at intensity
- The end goal is to get a contract extension but I want to focus on the now, stay in the present and not think too far ahead, just appreciate the now
- Working full time and not being in footy has made me appreciate it more
- Working and training was hard and put the opportunity in perspective and so I am enjoying my footy now
- I did a lot of youth support back in Townsville
- I was just going to transfer to Brissy and do the same job and play for Wynnum
- I really enjoy the mentoring role
- I'm still going to try and do this work anyway
- I like seeing young kids develop and get a crack and this motivates me as well
- I missed being around the boys the most when I wasn't playing footy
- I appreciate the opportunity and am loving playing footy again

I'm seriously won over, very impressive.
