Obviously this is stupid early but I feel it is fun to make teams based on how current form is atm.

it's obviously still very open but I'll post what I think it is based on a 5.5 Rounds for QLD.

1. Ponga
2. Coates
3. Cobbo
4. Hammer
5. Tuilagi
6. Munster
7. DCE
8. Collins
9. Hunt
10. Tino
11. Horsburgh
12. Gilbert
13. Carrigan

14. Grant
15. Cotter
16. Mo
17. Plath

Dunno but that's probably what I feel it is at this stage, I think Holmes is gone in all scenairos and to Get both Cobbo and Coates, Billy moves Cobbo to centre, it might be to left centre and move hammer to the right though(that is what I would do, I think Hammer works in any outside back position).

I don't care if Walsh is dropped because I'd prefer him playing for the Broncos over that period, however KP has been terrible the past two rounds and is currently more of a liability in D (not under the highball, but positionally when defending) than Walsh.

QLD aint getting close to the NSW with that pack. The bench is ridiculously small.

Small but durable, don't think size is that important in the six again era.

If you're going by form then you can select Hammer. He's been really poor this year.

Form wise, Purdue from the Cowboys or Howarth from the Storm are better options

QLD got dominated through the middle in game 3 last year. Origin is also refereed differently: you’re not going to see a team refereed out of a contest like the broncos were last night (as an example).

Except for Game 2 of any origin series to make sure there's a decider.

There was an Origin game in the last couple of years the went along the EXACT same script. NSW were just handed repeat 6-agains, over and over until they scored. The Live Game thread was pretty much identical to last night's.

I think that was last year's one wasn't it?

I also recall 2023 game 2 was insanely one sided, but NSW were so bad they still got flogged anyway haha... check out the reffing stats for that game... how the hell do you lose with that stat line

Starting to think Billy might be in the discussion here for the hooker rotation, I feel he is above Hunt tbh, probably between him and Reed Mahoney.

Sure Kevvie revived his career but Billy has actual ability, no one can deny it now, he forced his way ahead of Paix even with Madge, he is definitely in the argument for a rep level hooker.

His versatility compared to other Hookers in the game is what makes him honestly special, he can play halves at a first grade level which is helpful big time in origin, where anything can happen, honestly would feel comfortable having him in centre too if need be he is a great defender.

You can fault Billy’s heart and effort. He wouldn’t die wondering if you gave him a bench spot.

I don’t rate Mahoney so stranger things could happen

wouldn't be surprised at this point if he is the Grant rotation for Origin, Billy is a high level hooker imo, combined with his versatility he would be my pick.

Unfortunately Slater has some real Fittler like dumb **** choices in him. I see him doing some stupid shit like picking Plath/Loiero and leaving out Fifita again.

3. Hammer
4. Howarth
5. Cobbo
6. Munster
7. DCE
8. Tino
9. Grant
10. Carrigan
11. Su'a
12. Fifita
13. Cotter

14. Hunt
15. Gilbert
16/17. Horsburgh/Fermor/Fotuaika/Arrow/Collins

This is what I'd be looking at, pending fitness of Howarth/Grant. Holmes is just way too weak defensively at centre, would consider him for a wing spot.

I'd be looking at something like:

1. Ponga (Knights)
2. Cobbo (Broncos)
3. Hammer (The)
4. Munster (Storm)
5. Coates (Storm)
6. Dearden (Cowboys)
7. Cherry-Evans (Sea Eagles)
8. Collins (Roosters)
9. Grant (Storm)
10. Carrigan (Broncos)
11. Su'A (Dragons)
12. Fifita (Titans)
13. Tino (Titans)

14. Hunt (Broncos)
15. Gilbert (The)
16. Horsburgh (Raiders)
17. Kris (Raiders)

When Kris comes on you either play him through the middle or shift Cobbo there.

I think Fermor should be getting a look in this series... bench or starting.

Unsure about Sua... he got destroyed in Origin last year and he's been up and down in NRL so far (have been watching him closely given he's in my SVRL).
