Put Leota in the fire into the sun category already.
I don’t want to be harsh to the poor guy because he does look like he’s putting in the effort… but his error rate’s just too high. Yes he’s a natural athlete, some plays he looks like a world beater, sure. Maybe he’ll find his touch in a couple more years of QCup and be a bone fide weapon, but for now I can think of better ways to fill the salary cap.

Staggs to second row as a mid-game emergency shuffle is fine, but I think he’d struggle in defence against bigger bodies all night. He’s great at dragging down quick guys who almost beat him on the outside, but that doesn’t work on big blokes who run straight at you.

I saw on 100% footy this week a list of the top paid five-eights.

They listed Mam on $650k

My man, that is an excellent username. 👌

Lol at gronk journalists running another salary cap audit on us. This time on an apparent $250k haircut we are going to offer Reyno

$250k haircut to what though??

He came here on a reported $850k, but already took a cut to that for this 4th year... with it being reported at $600-650k.

Another $250k off that seems a bit of a risk.

Anyway wording from DD only a week or so back was that they're giving it all time and waiting for Reynolds to indicate that he is actually going around again.

Seems pretty quick to go from waiting around to offering him $450k for another year

According to the Journo, who would never dream of publishing a clickbait article *cough* Badel *cough*

The Salary Cap auditor will be scrutinising Reynolds next deal. a deal that hasn't been either discussed or offered yet.

according to Badel:

*** Reynolds is considering a $250k pay cut to play on next season.

*** NRL salary cap auditors will note Reynolds’ value has gradually been dropping at Red Hill.

*** His first contract was $800k per year, now about $550k

*** We can afford $300k next season for Reynolds

*** Under salary cap rules, the NRL has the power to block registering a contract if they deem the nominated salary does not match the player’s status in the code.

*** As a premiership winner, ex-Origin player and 14-year veteran of 294 games, Reynolds could be valued higher than $300,000 by the NRL.

*** The NRL was reportedly prepared to register a $400,000 deal for Daly Cherry-Evans next season, but we may not be able to even get that high

--------------

Let's assume everything Badel said is correct.

surely the fact that DCE has played 25 games for QLD and 21 Games for Australia compared to Reynolds 2 games for NSW is worth extra $100k in nominal value between DCE and Reynolds

There's a difference between a player re-signing for the club he's at vs a player moving for a cut price deal.

I've not heard of the NRL blocking a re-signing based on valuation.

Why is Sua Faalago re-signing at storm for unders... he'd be worth a ton on the open market.

Munster, Hughes, etc. re-signing for unders compared to what they could get.

It happens all the time for a player to stay where they are.

Seems arbitrary. What did Paps sign for at the Sunny Coast Storm? How much is Edwards on at Penrith? Look into those values first mate.

Edwards isn't a good example of a player signing for unders he reportedly re-signed for about $950k per year

Still a discount when it comes to fullbacks and he signed in August 2023... so not that long ago.

Top tier ones are over million these days and were back then as well... he's now the NSW and Aus fullback.

Reports at the time suggest he sacrificed $2m dollars over the life of the contract.

Speaking of our back row stocks, has any Broncos' first grader ever been forgotten quicker and harder than TC Robati?
