THE BOSS Maguire Stomped The Naysayers! But...8 Months Later, Here We Are.

If you were a head coach of an NRL side would you be listening to the advice from a rambling old spiteful media wanker? I sure as hell wouldn't.

These media pricks turn on you at the drop of a hat and have no problem twisting your words if it gets them a bit more attention.
The pair of them need to repair that bridge as it's doing neither of them favours as it stands. Madge clearly didn't handle himself well, and neither has Rothwell. Who has more to lose? Well, it's in Buzz's best interests to be able to talk civilly with the coach of the Broncos. That's his bread and butter. And if Buzz's whiteanting snowballs, Madge will lose his job. That's how it always starts.

The other option is the Broncos win. Over to you Madge.

Whatever sport I’ve ever trained for, but especially swimming, I was always coached under the 80/20 principles. It kinda worked for me too cause I ended up breaking a record that had stood for 7 years 😝

Watching them since the season started, they just have that exhausted ‘vibe’ about them. Don’t think Madge believes in the whole 80/20 thing, I think all Madge knows is how to do 110/100. 🤷‍♀️

If you google “should elite athletes train at 80%” it will give you a little bit more info.

Yea, that was all crap, and you wouldnt expect many coaches to take advice from Buzz of all people.
Well you don't have to take advice but you listen to them politely. It's never a good chess move to turn a prominent industry journalist into an enemy, no matter how little you think of them.

80 beers to 20 spirits?

I have no doubt there would be at least one player whinging to the media (even through their manager). But how many, or if they are even near the top 17 is unknown. Maybe it was just Tapau lol.
Yeah that was the interesting part to me... but it doesn't suit Buzz's narrative so doesn't want to talk about it.

He might've turned up to a fractured unit, might've been resentment from leftover Kevvie supporters even though it was player power that sent him packing, might've turned up and the players were completely unfit... or didn't know shit about footy so aren't even close to being able to implement what he wants.

He turned up to a club that had just flushed out its biggest legends in Kevvie and Alfie, Darius pulling the pin and two brand new assistants he didn't pick. He probably didn't arrive to unanimous applause.

There's no chance Madge is overworking the players or any of that bullshit.

Every professional club has whole sports science departments dedicated to this shit.

They monitor the players - what they eat, how much they train, their injuries, etc. There's a whole heap of data and research that goes into training and having the players at peak physical level when game day rolls around.

Dogs have a player suing them ATM for training too hard.
He walked when he couldn't handle the punishment he got for being late. He lacked mental toughness.
We need to weed out similar types if that's the problem.

Speaking of which, this will be the game Selwyn turns on the thrusters to get himself a QLD jersey.
One id happily let walk, can't be getting that sort of money and not be a solid 7.5/10 each week same goes with staggs it's been a while waiting to find consistency in his game with different coaches too might just have to bite the bullet and move on.

Its a fine line between pushing players too hard and weeding out the ones who wont go the extra mile to help the team succeed.

Madge does appear to have a history of overworking his players so it could be an issue, but at the same time, i do think we have some players who have had it too easy and arent handling being pushed harder.

If we aren't all talking about what a freak he is after this game, that million dollar contract being touted in the press right now will quietly fade away. He's getting way too much praise from folk who only remember his highlights. Which, in fairness, are pretty mindblowing.

They got rid of Kevvie for being too soft.

If being too hard on them gives us a premiership, I don't care if they collapse in a crying heap from total exhaustion from overtraining.

Sweep them out the door & sign new players. 😂

Cobbs can win you a game, but he can just as easily lose you a game. Souths game is a case in point. He dropped his very first bomb of the night and that set the tone for the rest of the night. He goes out over the sideline way too much to earn 'elite' status, but some of the line breaks he pulls off are spectacular.

At present he's a sure $650k back and has huge potential, but whether he reaches that potential is looking less likely as each season passes.

He has put on a bit of beef and it is noticeable that he no longer has the speed he had when he first came into grade.

I was all for locking him up long term when he first came into the team, but now I'm beginning to have my doubts.

Having said all that, he's still one of my favourite players to watch when he's 'on'. Hope this weather dries up a bit by tomorrow afternoon.

I'd say their 9-1 record is a better testament than bullying a mediocre player out of a contract.

The Dogs are incredibly shrewd with their recruitment and retention.

Dogs are about to change the way the game is played .
Smaller mobile forwards . Scrambling defence and insane cardio .

And we all laughed at the every one they sign is a utility meme ...
