Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2025

That would be sweet. In fact all of the Sharks outside backs are better than ours. The Broncos guys still get talked up like they are superstar next level athletes but the Sharks are faster, fitter, hungrier, smarter and have some mongrel. Same goes for many sides.
Agree. Our round 16 game against them on a Sunday at 2pm (FFS) is going to be so ugly

Are any of our backs top three or even top five in their position comp ride? At their peak even? We had one and he now plays for the team reportedly up the road.

From the weekends lineups:

Stonestreet > Mariner
Ramien > Staggs
Iro > Shibasaki
Mulitalo > Arthars

4-0 to the Sharks imo. If Cobbo was in the mix i'd probably take him over Stonestreet, but then Stonestreet is better value. Can only imagine how many wraps the Sharks backline would get if they had a Broncos jersey on.

Nope, don't think so.

Only Shibasaki doesn't enter into that conversation.

Hunt, Staggs: Kangaroos
Walsh, Cobbo, Arthars: QLD
Reynolds: NSW
Mam: Dally M, emerging QLD
Mariner: leading tryscorer most of last season.

Current snapshot: not really. Arthars is the only one with 2025 form. But he's no Coates. Mam, potentially, based on one game. Is he better than Dearden? I think that's a conversation.

Pretty good stats for a 'not that guy' in a weak team, playing at 7.

I'd rather try him at 7 post Reynolds original deal than break the bank and cause further cap issues. Ideally you keep Reynolds on to coach in some capacity.
Surely that's the plan. Hunt takes over from Reynolds at 7 with Black as deputy. Nuclear option is moving Walsh.

At peak it's debateable as Staggs and Cobbo have both played for Aus although i think both were underwhleming generally when playing rep.

On the last 18 months, no chance for top 5. Even top 10 would be a stretch.

One thing i have noticed this year is how slow we look. Cobbo is slow as ****, Staggs has never been a speed merchant and relied on barging his way over the line or through tackles, Arthars speed seems average for a winger and Mariner might be quick but runs over the sideline before you can really tell. Even Walsh looks a yard or 2 off his 2023 pace.

Would **** Cobbo/Staggs off in a heartbeat and throw ~half their reportedly wanted coin at Jojo Fifita or Khan-Pereira down the road.

So for next year, we have locked in (based on already signed contracts reportedly):

1. Walsh
2. Anderson
3. Mariner
4. Shibasaki
5. Arthars
6. Mam
7. Hunt
8. Willison
9. Walters/Mozer
10. Haas
11. Piakura
12. Riki
13. Carrigan

14. Mozer/Bukowski
15. Te Kura
16.
17.

I really wouldn't mind looking for a metre eating back to replace any of our 2-5. It should be Cobbo and Staggs but it isn't.

We could also use two middles and at least one backrower.

So basically, we need: Options that are likely available
At least one metre-eating back: Katoa, Laybutt, Talau, Jifita
Middle: Kerr, Pahulu, Suluka-Fifita, Geyer
Backrow: Bullemor, Jibasaki (sign him already come on), Difita

I also wouldn't be against a halfback to replace Reynolds: Clifford, Sexton

Pretty much all of them with maybe the exception of Difita are going to save us a lot of money and would offset losing Staggs and Cobbo who both are asking for way too much compared to what they provide.

Hi all, hope everyone is travelling well.

Bit of gossip from the Burrow thought you might be interested in.

The Rabbitohs board this week endorsed an offer being put in for Selwyn Cobbo for next year. Some board members were against it due to concerns about him coming to Sydney, but it was given the go ahead, presumably Wayne had a big say.

Also, Davvy Moale's manager has had preliminary talks with Brisbane. He is off contract end of this year.

Onwards and upwards in 2025 for us all we hope!

Interesting. He absolutely would not be playing FB at the Bunnies you'd think. So doubt he is getting that level of money if he were to go there.

Liddle looking at his options sucks we have about 5 options combined as good as him lol

Wouldn't mind this being true and could be a good move for Cobbo getting some warm cuddles from Wayne, Latrell, Cody etc. Probably the best Sydney team he could hope to fit into.

Definitely not mate. Would have to be wing or possibly centre. They are the only 2 options. And yeah, he would need to take a pay haircut based on his form this year!

Souths would be the best fit for him culturally. I can see Latrell taking him under the wing, so to speak. And Wayne will know how to manage him.

If you can tap into his potential maybe he's worth a million. We can't. He's worth 5-600 here.

He's not leaving for less money.

Wayne also spends a fair bit of his off-time up in Qld still when he is able to get away. I think he/the board are thinking of a similar arrangement for Cobbo if/when he needs to go home to visit family if he came to Sydney to play.

1. Gray
2. Munro
3. Graham
4. Mitchell
5. Cobbo

That would be a phenomenal background because you have players there who cover Cobbo's weaknesses to make him a weapon.

Well he has the reputation of being a bit of a baby about this stuff. For all we know he might've grown up since that mummy's boy meme become canon.

But if not, it that tells you something about the type of personnel management in store with him. Bear in mind, it's not just about visiting the bros, it's about them visiting him.

We've only seen glimpses of him at full tilt. And he's been fantastic now and then. Just not often enough.
