THE BOSS Maguire Stomped The Naysayers! But...8 Months Later, Here We Are.

Babe wake up - new hit piece from Gordie just dropped. Not linking it here because f**K NRL360. Basically goes on a rampage suggesting that the players are angry at 'senior officials' because the club leaked the coach review, which was the final blow for Kevvie.
I was stupid enough to watch the show tonight and there were a couple remarks of interest.

He quipped "Reece runs the place"... when they were joking about sacking Walsh based on Taupau getting sacked for liking a post.
- Interesting to me, because where would he be getting that kind of info from except Kevvie

Then for the part you are referring to he was saying that of the players he's spoken to (yeah right who the **** would he be talking to ever since Kevvie got sacked)... they are apparently sick of being blamed for the coaches getting sacked and they aren't happy about the execs blaming them for Kevvie getting sacked.

But I think he's full of shit, because this is the same stuff he was crapping on about when Kevvie first got sacked i.e. the board being too scared to own up that they sacked Kevvie and they hid behind the survey.

CONEHEAD is also the first pundit that hasn't put some sort of ownership on the players for what's happening.

Well for argument's sake, let's say the players are sick of being blamed, how about they come out and prove everyone wrong.

They've had 4 coaches in 10 years, including Bennett, and have dished up mostly mentally soft shit. They are to blame.

If you don't like seeing people blaming you all the time, then maybe get the **** off social media for a start.

Both Cam Smith and Gould are bang on.

Cam's right, when you've had the wide variety of coaches this team has had, at some point the players need to take accountability for there performances.

and Gould is right our team has the talent. on their day they can beat anyone comfortably. unfortunately we haven't had a quality system for a long time.

the problem is that building a system can't be done overnight, it takes time and it take patience. (exhibit A: Penrith Panthers). even if you have a coach (or GM of Footy type person) capable of building (or rebuilding) your footy program, the clubs management and fan base need to give them the time they need to accomplish it.

CONEHEAD has held a grudge against the club since about 2004 ... he put it aside for a few years while his mate was coaching them.

Fox did get what they needed out of those comments

Just watched the snipped. James hooper also saying alot of player unrest at the broncos, not just Gordie.

May be true but Hooper and Gordie are tight.
You cannot trust anything from FOX
as being transparent.
Hoopers source is more than likely Gordie.
Gordie openly hates the club but somehow feels ha has a right to say who coaches.
He's an idiot with a media voice who stays relevant by being controversial.

Just sad that this thread is a legitimate point of discussion 2-3 months into Maguire's tenure. Whether we wanted to keep / liked Kevvie or not, this fact is pretty sad.

Here's hoping the guy can do what is least expected and be able to turn it around.
Hahah mate. You’ve gone off the deep end.

You made this thread, and it’s just pages and pages of people bagging out the media and players, and telling you to calm down.

It’s you, Jed, and Broncsgoat. Everyone else is saying it isn’t the start we hoped for but it’s too early to say.

Did he mention that the last time Madge had a head coach role they got progressively worse every season?

I have one little spec of glimmering hope. It is true, the boys are getting flogged. Pre-season levels of flogged still, which is unheard of this far in to a season. But it's been told to me by multiple people, including face-to-face by one of their strength and conditioning coaches, that their conditioning has been awful.

The glimmer of hope is that our results have been due to the heavy legs - we were competitive at the start of the season but tapered off when other teams backed off the intensity at training and had more in their legs on game day. What we are seeing now is like the Bennett post-Origin slump when he would work them over to prime them for the home run. Except in Madge's case, he's seen how far behind we are and has had to flog them this long to get them up to the level they need to be.

So the hope is that, at some point in the next month, the intensity starts to taper off and the increased fitness of the team comes to the fore. We've been competitive, frustratingly so, while being fatigued even before the ball has been kicked. Think of how good we can be with superior fitness to other teams.

...and this right here is up there as one of the bigger problems I think.

I think a fair amount of blame has to fall on our leadership group at this point. Like so many of us pointed out. There is no talk on the field, no laying down the law (the women do this at training let alone the actual game. It was one of my main takeaways watching last seasons training sessions).

I don't like Madge but for how long this is going on it has to start with our leadership group and then go from there. We need a leader.

Spot on. One thing I've noticed as an opposition supporter (I love me rugba leeg and watch each game every round) is how invisible Reyno appears to be when it comes to leadership. He should be there behind the try line laying down the law to the team, but he seems to be just standing on the periphery every time the other team scores, looking dazed. He doesn't appear vocal at all. None of them do really. Perhaps Carrigan every now and then, but still.

It's almost like Reyno is just there to collect his pay cheque each week. He should be leading by example. Not just by his actions, but by his words too!
