I feel like people would've assumed it was just Cobbo... who at the start of the year looked a given somewhere in the Qld backline.

I feel like Shiba is our version of the Te Whare story the Phins had... except Shiba is actually a good player

Shiba put his hand up a number of times to take the real tough carries out of our own end when the blues were swarming. I felt nothing but pride for the guy as he constantly broke through their line and forced their whole line to re-set. i lost count but there was 4 or 5 occasions where he broke their line and totally stalled their rushing defence.

How the ref could rule him as interfering with play on that massive chase and jump to contest the bomb with Edwards is a head scratcher. The fact it hit his arm first is proof he was going for the ball.

Nevertheless, that baptism of fire will further enhance his form this year coming into the finals. What a story when he wins the Clive Churchill this year.
