What was the point of that?

A field goal in front when there was zero pressure... it's not like they did a field goal set to try and set one up

Yeah, not sure why they were gassing up the good practice schtick. Not like you'll have that little pressure from 15m when a point is actually needed.

Hannay deserves his chance. If he is able to turn this similar roster around I will take back all my scepticism that it is Paytens fault. I have my doubts though. Some of the signings have been disgusting. O'Donnell, Bateman, Edwards, Paulo. The injuries haven't helped either but that is every team these days. You have to be better.

I hope the new coach does turn it around but I don't want a 1 year boost of a new boss. There needs to be structural change. I dont think alot of the roster fits together. Especially the forward pack. Or some of them need to get better on the other side of the ball and develop a steely edge. I think they need a vocal leader. Its why I like the Mahoney signing. He is flawed in areas but I think he provides a bit of it and some mongrel. I think Dearden gets there eventually but he is still young.

Payten has done alot of good things. Especially with the young guys. Dearden, Nanai, Luki, Tualagi etc but obviously he is gone. It's time for some of these guys to take the next leap. A few of them have stunted in their growth. Maybe a new voice and philosophy changes that but I don't think it's a quick fix to get to the ultimate goal. Club should be stronger with their junior nursery.

Payten for me has also killed the confidence of some, especially in the halves. Duffy lasted what, 2 games?

Then Clifford comes in, you win a couple then he is gone for a promising young player who was doing well in the centres, that fails and then you go back to Clifford again.

It cant be a happy place for some of those blokes, especially when they see guys like Laybutt stinking it up, and sure there might be some outside back injuries, but he is deadset below cup level and still getting picked.

I swear it was believed Todd's strength was a defensive approach, its clearly not working and the attack has gone to absolute shit unless its something Dearden or Drinkwater pull out.

Hannay just seems like he'd be a good fit and it really cant get much worse. But if they stick with Todd... happy days.

Yeah Hannay seems the best of the not coaching coaches available, would love to see the Cows take a punt on him.
