Just looking at the draw and being a realist I don’t think we make the 8.

Teams have figured Walsh out something shocking. Reynolds looks like this should definitely be his last year playing.

The thing I’m most disappointed about is that losing these types of game has been a consistent issue for the core playing group for 5 years now and it just doesn’t matter who the coach is. I really thought that our new coach wouldn’t stand for it and knock it out of them.
this group are just insanely entitled and unfortunately the only way to fix it would be to take away luxuries like one would do in the army, that’s never going to happen.

So this is it, this is what we have, they can’t be fixed.

The run was fun but never convincing.
I hate that I look at the draw too and think that could be a possibility, hence why I think the Souths game is so important now, Dolphins and Cows will be right up for us, Storm record speaks for itself and yea we should beat the Knights but then we all know sport doesn't go that way!

I think we will make the 8, just might not do much there. Either last night was the wake up we needed or it is the beginning of the end. Over to the players to decide which.

After a pretty cross and restless sleep, I think I’m ready to let go of the anger. I saw it coming with Moses’s addition and seeing them live last week.

Given our draw, the Souths, Redcliffe, Newcastle, and a Melbourne fixture are must wins to get a home final. Penrith and Cronulla will most likely pinch 5th and 6th. Cronulla have a bye in hand too.

We aren’t going to beat teams that have halfbacks that can kick us to death. Cleary and Moses will continue to do that. Every other team still looks just as ordinary. It will most like be Penrith that go on the run from here, their experienced players have no interest in losing. Spare us. Outside of that happening, the comp is aids and it would be nice to find some really good form in the coming weeks because it’ll still be wide open.

I just want the team to compete for the entire 80 mins.

Not get in front & hope to defend a lead etc.
Only well coached teams who have been playing well will do stuff like this. Not a rabble tin assing wins resting on their laurels

Everyone plays well against us because home and away its the biggest crowds they'll usually play in front of.

Parra would rarely play in front of 40k, so its a big deal and players get up for that. I also think its why players come back in games vs us often, they have the games picked out as big games and dont want to miss them.

We seem to handle it poorly, we need to take these teams out of games early.

We never deserved that win why should get a win when we never even tried as hard to win. NOOK

To get some solace, I asked AI the below

Imagine Moses on this team…..two things we need and hoped from Reynolds.

1. kicking game
2. direction

Both are fleeting at a rapid rate.
The Reynolds / Mam halves combo is about the worst in the NRL for game management , organising attacks , 5th tackle plays etc . The play where Haas kicked on the last tackle OMFG. Walsh is not fit enough to play a full game of fullback , as mentioned earlier sides with good kicking games find him out time and time again. Perhaps Reece best suited as a 14 , when he can come on and run at tired defences in a couple of 20 minute stints. Also noted Haas only played 49 minutes- Xavier 41 - when they both went off we lost any semblance of control. We will be lucky to make the 8 and if we do we are just making up the numbers

The doom and gloom is a bit over the top.

We went away from what worked for us the past 5 games. We didn't do a lot wrong last night when you look at the stats, we just panicked a bit and didn't trust the gameplan. Didn't help the wingers kept jamming in.

Anyone that's bothered watching the Eels the past few weeks would know they aren't the same side that ended up at the bottom of the ladder. They gave it to the Raiders in Canberra last week, but they lacked what Moses brings and lost their way in the last 10 minutes. With Moses in the side, they're a top 8 side and they performed like that last night.

We lacked some impact off the bench because of Willison starting, so putting him back to the bench will help.

Reyno and Ezra needed to do more, as well.

If we go back to what was working for us prior to tonight, we'll be fine.

Seemed we didn't have a game plan for Hunt's 2nd stint. What was his role exactly? Play link man at lock? Dont think he did much and we looked confused out there. Haas kicking on the 5th did my head in. All the options out there for play 5 and...... Haas with a nothing play

Swimming up stream all game, meterage stats flatter us due to the few breaks we had. It was around 15 minutes left in the game and Adam was topping metres gained at 110m or so... Anyway that's the loss out of the way, time to lock in.

The sad thing is how easily things could be addressed in general. Take the spine if you could get Reynolds kicking game in order, Hunt providing more variety from dummy half not merely passing and Walsh learning when to go for the big play(not in a tight match, just after half time where you need to concentrate on minimising your errors, making metres and try to force the opposition to making their own). That in itself would address much of the issues there.

That game was easily winnable and that pisses me off more then if we played outright horrible because at least I could write that off as one of those games. Last nights performances sums up this season anytime we too easily drift off. Hunt and Reynolds have been passengers. Walsh has been up and down but he is at least out there trying and Mam has made a difference in the majority of the games he has played.

I can see us making the finals but be knocked out pretty easily.

Maybe not .
But most fullbacks would have at least attempted to catch the bomb that led directly to a try .
The score line was ??
Good outweighs a small error that I have seen even the best of fullbacks make at times, he also immediately corrected this and was rushing up from every short bomb that Moses kicked afterwards.

Todd should be dropped for the rest of the year after that effort. That penalty being turned into a six again likely lost us the game - we lost the chance to level up with a penalty kick and then lost all momentum we would’ve had if he had waved the six again immediately. There’s no way that a ref should be able to correct a penalty like that once they’ve awarded it, it’s just totally amateurish, but I suppose that’s the standard of officiating in the nrl these days.

Arthars was our worst player on the field imo. I’d be dropping him for Mariner next week. Xavier back to the bench, too.
