We absolutely have the ability to beat them, we just need to play a lot better than we have been
I’m just hoping our spine will click at some point, if it does we could be dangerous in the semis
I honestly forget that Hunt is in our spine sometimes. Dude has been very quiet since his return from injury.

Not entirely invisible: Topped the tackle count. Ran 10 times as many metres as Adam Reynolds. Broke 3 tackles (Reynolds 0, Mam 3). 1 line break. Kicked 93 metres.

You mightn't have noticed him because he made no errors or gave away any penalties.

And I think the "too many cooks" problem is sorting itself out a bit. The revolving door of "who's kicking on the last" seemed to be a *lot* more deliberate this week.

Our spine consists of a lot of players that would traditionally have larger roles if they were in a different team, and some of them (Hunt, Reyno, even Walsh and Walters @ 14) have been the predominant playmaker.

I like Dozers service, and he's a defensive positive in anyone's books. I like his stripped back role. If he were playing 7, you'd want more. If he's playing 9, you want him doing a pristine job as a hooker, and not colouring outside the lines, except for the set plays and occassional kicking.

The Mam and Walsh short passing play looks awesome.

I'd say we're trending up, atm. I think everyone's assumption was that, once we got our all stars on the ground at the same time, it's just work, but it's probably been more an issue of tempering everyone's efforts.

I saw some structures in that first half that I liked a lot - I mean, some of them were run at like training drill pace nearly, but you see the works that's been going in.

If Piakura was ruled to have been concussed, it's an 11 day standdown period. We play the Storm on a thursday so unless he suffered it on the Sunday following the Eels game then he's going to be out.
He only just got off his 11 day stand-down from the titans game the weekend of the bye. He probably was in his first few contact drills and had issues.

Entirely possible it's ramifications from repeat concussions and after effects and not a fresh "Cat 1" but more a lighter blow bringing back symptoms. This is not a good thing if so and a symptom his career might be in the balance in the near term if it doesn't right itself.

He played in the parra game, so he had effectively passed his previous concussion issues, but they could be delayed symptoms from the previous one against titans.

Have there been any reports from broncos?

Right you are! I think I wiped that horror show from my memory (or at least want to)

Only news really on Piaks - but the 11-day thing could be speculation from the media: https://au.news.yahoo.com/payne-haa...with-south-sydney-042031330.html?guccounter=1

Madge confirmed after the Souths game that Piakura will go through the concussion protocols which is a mandatory 11-day stand-down.

They might be able to get an exemption if it wasn't a Cat 1 concussion, but the fact that he didn't play suggests it's a Cat 1.

The Storm effect can last two weeks, only Warriors and Roosters have won the next week after playing the Storm this year. I can't imagine that other seasons would be much different.

Dolphins next week becomes really important if you lose this week and it's hard to win that week too.

Yeah Piaks has had so many concussions, he has to have an extended break, there really isn't a choice here. His career has to have question marks on it. He is having a great season, really growing into it but you just can't have this many head knocks in such a short time.
