Talk of life bans for players that go to R360 so that might not be possible. I wouldn't be surprised if this goes ahead, we got two expansion clubs on the horizon and to lose a stack of quality players would drain the quality pool even more then it will before taking R360 into account.
Let me clarify thats a proposal for players who break contracts.

R360 is a ways off as yet... Payne is under contract next year and I'm not sure this new competition is going to be up and running by 2027.

I think they're just stat padding to get funding at the moment.

I’ve worked with lots of Saudi companies and a lot of things like this get proposed and then don’t happen. I wouldn’t be surprised if this never sees the light of day.

On the flipside, from what I gather many big name players will boycott Saudi for what most of us see as human rights abuse by virtue of religious orthodoxy, whereas those theocratic eccentricities could appeal to Payne.

Theres no way this competition is happening in the next 2 years, if it does it will be an absolute flop and disaster. They've signed about 12 players, not even confirmed, they dont know where they are playing and would need to do a SHITLOAD of publicity and winning over the media and fans given they already hate the idea in Europe and the southern hemisphere hates it as they are "planning" to play it during their seasons lol. Are Saudis still even involved? Last I heard they dropped out.

He looked really bloody good in the trials he played for us, not sure why he fell out of favour.

Take note of the number of clubs he's had to go to; he is on his fourth Cup team in five years and three NRL clubs.

Badel is talking it down.

Well, he cant sign a contract for at least the next 2 years with R360 as they wont even be up and running until at least 2028.

I still rate Jensen. I think we have the middles on our books to hang with any team.

Haas
Patrick
Jensen
Willison
Talty
Hetherington
Te Kura

Unless he’s much cheaper than Jensen it’s hard to think it’s worth chasing externally. We have to have one of the best middle depths in the comp.

As everyone has said to death. We need second rowers. Piakura is a gun (outside of his head concerns). Outside of that things get grim
You forgot Baker.

Do you know why clubs don't rate him? Is he no chance of doing a 'Shibasaki'?

Speaking of which, if Mariner kills it, Gibs might not get a spot back with Ganderson coming and Verhoeven coming through.
I thought he was great against Melbourne….does shiba go straight back in?

Tom Duffy's first interview since signing with us

Working with Adam Reynolds and Ben Hunt was a clear attraction to me,” Duffy said.

“I had a chat to ‘Madge’ (Broncos coach Michael Maguire) and he said you will be learning off two halfbacks who have played over 300 games.

“I have done that under Chad Townsend (former Cowboys halfback) up here the last two years.

“I learnt a lot from him and I’m keen to get a fresh look at the game from Adam Reynolds and Ben Hunt, tap into what makes them great and see if I can add that to my game

“I’m definitely excited. I have been in Townsville my whole life, so I am excited to get out of my comfort zone, get to a fresh system and a fresh town.

“It will be a good change for me.”

the Ignatius Park College product believes he has the skill set to be a long-term halfback in the NRL.

“I would be stupid to say, ‘No I can’t do it’,” Duffy said.

“You have to believe you are one of the best out there.

“Every halfback in reserve grade and the NRL would have those feelings and I’m no different.

“I have a great kicking game which suits the NRL and I think I’ve got good management.

“I will back myself in those areas.

“At the start of the year, I had aspirations to be at the Cowboys for a while starting in that seven jersey, but then things didn’t go quite to plan.

“I got dropped and I went back to Q Cup. I didn’t kick stones or anything. I went back, worked on my craft and if you want to have a bit of longevity in the NRL, you have to have those characteristics.

“I was proud of the resilience I showed and the way I have come back.”

“The Broncos is a huge club with some rich history,” Duffy said.

“To be able to do that (wear the Broncos No.7 jumper) would be nice, but my first focus is having a good break in the off-season and then I’ll get refreshed for a big pre-season.

“I would love to be with the Broncos for a long time. I have signed for 2026 and I am focusing on that year.

“I’m just glad the Broncos have seen a bit of potential in me and I can’t wait to go down there and show them they’ve made the right decision.”

Cowboys football manager, Michael Luck said

“His attitude is first class,” Luck said.

“I can’t fault him. He is a great young man from a good family who tries his best every day.

“He definitely has potential to be a starting half in the NRL.

“Tom is very smart and understands the game. He works hard and has a good kicking game and gets his body in front defensively, so he ticks a lot of boxes for any future club.

“We have salary-cap pressures like any club and you can’t keep everyone.

“We wish Tom all the best for his future career.”
