NRL Players and family members in hot water

I can't believe how much the media seem to be downplaying the betting thing.

The standard response seems to be "all the players would probably be telling their friends and family that they are playing".

I'm sure that's the case, but I don't think they should be under the terms of their contracts, most probably aren't doing it via text messages, and most probably aren't stupid enough to talk about betting based on the advice.

He told people info that wasn't available to the general public at the time he said it, then people bet based on that info. Surely that is the very definition of "insider betting".

Sure it's not match fixing, but it's still rather dodgy imo.
Don’t be obtuse.

That’s literally a bloke saying he’s not playing on the weekend… what else is he going to talk about? He spends his life training for and playing footy

For buying coke?

Yeah they absolutely can considering that's an illegal act... They took the moral high ground with their so called stance and they opted not to sack him because they would have had to pay him out.
There is no proof he did. He isnt charged with anything from police.

With Radley's punishment being without pay... does that mean rorters get salary cap back?

They arent paying him so there's no accumulation against the cap.

Nice loophole Uncle Nick has found... Victor to get a few rounds of golf in now that he's not doing much for the first half of the year

Yes they are applying for an salary cap exemption... Unbelievable

They'll get it as well.

The NRL salary cap is accumulated as they pay... thats why transfers after June 30 are like getting players at half price.

So if theyre not paying Victor then nothing is being accumulated on the cap.

Only way they dont get it is if RLPA step in, because suspension without pay may not be a component of NRL contracts .... but Clint probably plays golf with Uncle Nick as well and wouldn't want to jeopardise those kickbacks he gets.

I hope the Broncos are straight onto their lawyers to get a retraction out of Anasta.
He just repeated the line again that Mam drove under the influence - he was never charged with this. Surely this is slanderous.
He also said, 'and nearly killed someone'

it's a joke, in fact it's beyond that, it's criminal and I'm angry that the club doesn't call him out

If someone coming the wrong way down a street crashes into me I'm saying they nearly killed me too.

Some further loopholes that Uncle Nick has managed to find out of the Victor punishment

At least someone is calling this out.

Can you imagine the heat on us as a club if we somehow got cap relief out of the Ezra Mam situation?

It just shows where the Roosters are at, to be even considering that sort of thing.
There would be heat because Mams incident is more serious than radleys. Radleys punishment is viewed as excessive so of course there is going to be limited outrage about them doing it.
