GRAND FINAL WEEK Brisbane Broncos vs Melbourne Storm

I don't think sour, conflicting feelings I think for Kev. He would always have backed himself to do the same as madge with his roster and assistants this year. He had excuses - Injury ravaged season in 2024 ect. but probably forgets (as I did in my dummy spits last year) there are no excuses when you are the coach. The buck stops with you.

Whether it was possible or not that he could have done what Madge did this year is irrelevant. The club is justified in its position and Madge has done an outstanding job.

Kev would be happy for the team he loves, the players and assistants he recruited but conflicted with regret knowing what possibly could have been.

Love ya Kev! Can take alot of credit for getting the boys to the grand final we had to lose to win this one!
It’s not exactly like we haven’t had injuries this year.
Reynolds x2, Ezra suspension, Ezra injury, Cobbo injury. Payne injured but playing through. The Marty issue, various halves pairings and now the Billy injury.
I think the difference is, these boys have probably had a little more tough love, competition and I think Madge has rewarded players for efforts he has seen on the training paddock.
Nothing against Kev, he is a legend and will forever have be a Broncos legend.
Madge I think has just bought in new methodology and perspective.
And you cannot say that our last 3 games haven’t shown the difference in this squad v the last few years.
Lastly, the arrogance is back.

Love it, he was asked if he wants the kickoff and he said yeah, I want to run over guys.

No front rower in history would say no hoping for tackle three and run a bit wider to that question in Grand Final week.

Lazo would have had about 15 more expletives if you'd asked him.

Lazarus was also 15 times a better player.

If he has named Haas individually, the guy is a moron. Payne is clearly on a mission, last thing you want to do is fire the dude up even more somehow and you can be sure Patty is going to want to make amends for not being there yesterday.

Melbourne's middles are already undersized and up against it against Patty, Payne and Xman, just keep your mouth shut, especially when you've already gone missing on the biggest stage in origin...this will be even hotter.

Yeah i'm saying from Kevs perspective there were excuses. I'm saying even after my dummy spits i have learnt there are no excuses... This year we have certainly faced adversity with injuries.

I actually think we are not playing to different to 2023. I think Madge has just given us the fitness to play to the same strengths. From memory 2023 was the best defensive season we have had in almost a decade but I think this year as you said, the competition for spots and the findings of good cheap players has been the difference. That and our fitness!

I think the mentality over the last 3 games has been outstanding. I completely agree - We would never have won those games from such a large deficit in 2023. Not a chance. I think overall we are a comparably better football side under Madge, although our attack is not as good as peak 2023 levels yet.

Anyone given it any thought that Kev might be a tad sour only because his boy is missing out on a GF spot and the chance for a ring.

As a father sitting with a handful, that must cut pretty deep.

Utoikamanu's presser was a train wreck.
- Could barely hear half of it due to background noise
- Already satisfied making origin and the GF
- Is super nervous knowing it isn't just any game
- He clearly is worried about Haas, had no idea how to stop in
- Not many people want to stand in front of me when I'm running the ball (he's going to get absolutely belted)
- Has put a massive mark on himself
- Said the whole team (Storm) thinks the Broncs are stuck up

Wow, what an idiot.

Melbourne's forward pack should be vulnerable lacking Nelson's size in the middle. Stefano and Kamikamica aren't big minute players. Willison and Haas should be able to feast.

Haas, Patty, and X are all better than any of their middles. The storm would do nearly anything to sign any one of the three

Early weather forecast looks sensational. Dry track, low 20s at kick off. The 7:30 kick off means I can watch the UFC in the arvo.

Don't mind if the referee is Atkins or Klein. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. No doubt they'll officiate off whatever directive they're given.

Stefano is a marked man and is going to get folded.

Great to see our wingers safe under the high balls yesterday. No doubt there'll be plenty of kicks their way for the Storm wingers.

Broncos come into the game with the clearly harder contests against stronger opposition in Canberra and Penrith. Is 7 days recovery and preparation going to be a big factor against 9 days? Don't think so.

My bench would be Smoothy, Willison, Hetherington and Talty. I wouldn't be opposed to having Arthars on the bench either for outside back coverage.

I saw a comment on social media that said Walshy shed a few tears BEFORE the game.

A supporter who was in the inner sanctum and got to watch them warm up in the sheds said that Walshy apparently took himself away from the group, had a moment to himself and shed a few tears.

He gets a lot of unwarranted hate but you can't deny that he cares and loves the club immensely.

The pressure that he feels must be overwhelming at times. Here's hoping that he, and the others, can just let it all go and enjoy themselves this week - team lunch at the Caxton today seemed like a good start!
