GRAND FINAL WEEK Brisbane Broncos vs Melbourne Storm

Melbourne’s’ middles aren’t in the same class as Penrith’s though. Their entire momentum comes off Grant, he needs to be shut down at all costs. Easier said than done.

And Grant's momentum comes off the Storm players getting quick PTBs and playing it off the mark. Munster and Pap Smear are the worst offenders. They are both different in their styles - Munster is more aggressive and gets himself twisted up so that he can milk 6-agains, or push the markers aside to "disentangle" himself. Paps just about surrenders on first contact and kneels to the ground while holding the defender, so he can pop straight back up to the side of the ruck to play it. Our contact on them needs to be specifically tailored to not allow them to do this.

Well they appointed Atkins to "let the game flow" and not blow penalties every other set. So that should hopefully limit their milking to get carried down the field and quick ptbs slightly.

Yeah I'm on board with dropping Paix. Smoothy can start at hooker. Bigger body, harder for Stefano to skittle, and provides utility value by potentially being a backrow option late for Piakura so Willison can focus on middle minutes. Even if we start Mam at 6 and Hunt at 9, Smoothy offers more utility as the 14

Broncos just aren`t as cunning as some teams .
I swear Panthers and Storm spend a lot of time practicing the choreography that happens with 4 men in a tackle .
Patty Carrigan is a serial offender when it comes to penalties and 6 agains .
All for the sake of a split second delay of the PTB . Do better Pat .

Anyone know the story with family tickets? Obviously two adults and two junior tickets included but really could four adults go? Cannot imagine they’d be checking ID At the gates.
I assume a lot would/will do this

Keep in mind Penref made easy metres up our middle in the first half. Granted Paddy will snuff out a good deal of that, but that Pappy coming through the middle of the ruck just 5 minutes before halftime is a major (potential) headache. Hopefully Staggs and (headgear) Riki has shortened him up well before that.
Paps was actually the only one to pick up an injury out of the Sharks game that I saw. His shoulder is definitely busted. We work that injury in a few of his 1st tackle hit ups and it might blunt him quite a lot in attack being able to bust tackles / passing to one side.

That fitness point was a big one - you could see how gassed Penrith looked at the end.

I think a big part of it was the amount of work our back 5 got through in the first half - Karapani and Mariner especially. Allowed the middle to just make their tackles and have enough energy to destroy Penrith in the 2nd half. Pretty much beat Penrith at their own game.
I mean you got to give Penrith alot of respect on how tough that football side is, they went from NZ away game to Bulldogs away game then to one of the biggest games at Suncorp in recent history and basically controlled the game for majority of it. Ivan Cleary clearly knows how to push those boys into deep trenches to get a result and there is no coincidence they have been so dominant and will continue to be next year.

If Atkins refuses to blow the whistle like he did in the penref game, then this will be easy enough. The storm’s biggest chances in attack against us will come from lightning quick ptbs and speed through the middle (look at the tries they scored vs the sharks), if the ruck is slowed down they won’t get the same opportunities that they did through the middle vs the sharks

Scans a different colour at the gate, so you would be pinged if entering at a quiet time. If heading in with the crowd they'll most likely be too lazy to bother questioning you as they are dealing with the crowd, but it's a risk.

Should we buy together to save on shipping?

Yea I wouldnt be surprised if the next few grand finals are between us and them.

As much as I'd love to have a beer with Cam Munster, just once I want to see him folded like a Christmas card while he does his little pretend I don't know what I'm doing while know what I'm doing dance..
