GRAND FINAL WEEK Brisbane Broncos vs Melbourne Storm

I don’t think we can win if the ruck is let go the way it was for Penrith, Melbourne are just too well drilled at slowing it down. I think you could count on one hand the number of fast PTB we got, even half chances we got where Penrith caught short out wide & they were just allowed to take that extra time in the ruck and by the time we get the ball out there the space was gone again.

Idk Penriths record being ahead was far superior to Melbourne's, since 2020 they were 98 to 0 in games they where ahead by 12 points or more at Half time and we broke that, basically an unbeatable stat.

The panthers game wasn't stop start though... ball in play for a long time on a hot day against the fittest team in the comp and by the second half we were running over the top of them.

If it's a game with penalties then there will be less fatigue... also plays into the hands of storm wanting set restarts inside the opposition half

I think we want ball in play and if the whistle goes away then it's back and forth and we should be allowed to lay in the ruck just as much reducing Harry from dummy half.

I think our attack needs a quick PTB more than Melbourne do.

The whole point of the set restart rule is to speed up the ruck without making the game stop start. If atkins give Melbourne an inch they will take a mile and we will struggle to score points.

I watched it with a number of impartial supporters and they couldn’t believe what the riff were getting away with in the ruck…

Plus, they have never once been onside…

It was frustrating watching Penriths line standing 2 metres in front of atkins and he just ignored it.

We need to be smart and push the limits if he’s letting stuff go. However, some teams seem to be able to get away with pushing limits more than others and we aren’t one of them unfortunately.

In rd27 Melbourne came out from kick off with what was a very obvious tactic to slow us down as much as possible and atkins to his credit didn’t cop it. But that was before the Klein debacle and the narrative of letting the game flow which has seen atkins get appointed to the GF. Who knows what we will get..

This GF has sooo many story threads to it:

- Hunt's redemption arc, 10 years to the day
- Reyno making two GF's since Souffs ****ed him off, still could win a premiership to rub it in even further. Also very likely he retires on a high, he has to know now his body is reaching its limit.
- Walsh seals his place as a megastar of the comp
- We will beat Tom Dearden and Xavier Coates to a premiership, two players who walked out "seeking success"
- Madge and everything he has been through over the past 5 years
- The pro-Kev faction including CONEHEAD and Rothfield get silenced
- Billy Walters wins a title under the coach that took his fathers gig
- Cobbo is left to lament what could have been as he leaves the club, on the sideline while his mates reach the Grail
- 2 from 2 against Melbourne in Grand Finals, and first back to back wins against them since god knows when (Actually have we EVER beaten Melbourne twice in a row?)
- We win a premiership off the back of one of the toughest run of games any title winner has had to overcome. Storm > Canberra > Penrith > Storm. Who could say we don't deserve it?

Watching the Storm vs Sharks game without 17 schooners clouding my memory. Think this is a game of Sharks missing their opportunities more than anything else.

Stefano ran at AFB once in the first stint and got an offload away in a 1 on 1 tackle. Most of his runs were at the edges. He was gassed after a very stop start 20 minutes. Quiet 2nd half, didn't do much. I thought AFB had his number. He's going to be in trouble with the pace of a GF.

Cronulla attack was straight garbage. Hynes can't kick. Hynes is pretty bad. Whole team was clunky in attack. Lots of ball in red zones going down. Their attack doesn't play with any depth, both halves don't want to take the line on and pass.

Klein got the whistle out. Most of it was justified. Few soft ones though. Both teams tried to get away with a bit.

Nikora scores if he cuts to the side to avoid the try saving high tackle from Pap (how is penalty try not discussed here? Jumping, swing to the head, changes all the momentum of Nikora).

Grant so dangerous when there's no markers (last try).

how long has this forum been a thing?
I remember joining the old version of this broncos forum back in the mid/late 90s via some broncos mailing list (early dial-up internet, pre-google days). I think someone named Chris Cox (is he still around?) sent an email asking if anyone was interested if he created a broncos forum.

So that would make this forum about 29 years old?

I didn't start posting until 29 years later though

Ben Talty is such a ****ing legend. The kind of class we are so lucky to have, it's unbelievable that he wasn't getting a run in Sydney. He said what you could say is "unfortunate" is that he "wasn't here since November 1st" and the "boys are getting what they deserve".

Just watched this and came straight to the forum to post it. If the footy career doesn’t work out, media beckons. He is so well spoken.

Paix shouldn’t be in there. Mam should be 6, Hunt 9, Smoothy on the bench to cover 9 or lock. Shiba has been shit the last two finals games, so Arthurs should be in instead, with Shiba on the bench in case we lose a back.

No way do you drop Shib for this game. He's been fine the last two games, got his metres and made some important tackles. Plus you'd be disrupting existing combinations going into the biggest game of the year.

I love Jesse, but he's not done anything this year when he's been in the team to have earned a spot over Shib.
