So they were only really down Grant? Uto is overrated af, and Blore is a plodder (the kid that filled in for him looked more threatening)

Edit: the whole Storm team outside the spine are just robots performing set tasks. God damn I hate the way they play

It was one good thing Klown was doing... was telling them to get up and play it, and if they couldn't then give it to someone else... and then in the sharks game he started paying them and the game turned into a farce where he was going penalty for penalty to try and keep it even, but they both kept scoring and he kept giving yardage penalties to try and even it up.

Klown will be in the bunker, so he'll probably be a vindictive prick and call all the soft ones because Atkins will cop the blame for too many penalties.

Pure arrogance & strong headedness from him. For either the cheat grubs or the Rotters only deserve anything. Rest all do things by pure luck. Shortsighted fool.

Unless it's direct and forceful to the head they shouldn't* be calling it in a GF. It's usually a safe bet. Which is good cause papsmear loves to drop his weight into tackles to milk high shot penalties.

I think we thrive under finals/origin football rules. When we aren't being reamed up the ass with penalties and six agains we tend to do well.

I haven’t read the rules, but I thought there were times, like foul play, that they couldn’t, so the guaranteed diving comes into play if that’s the case
 
I have a good feeling about this game.
But we still need to play smart, play tough and take our opportunities.
It's almost a given that: Grant will make a significant break at some point; Warbrick, Coates or Katoa will win a contest from a kick; and that Melbourne will slow the ruck at crucial times but we'll get pinged for it 2 mins later.
We have to defend these.
Melbourne are not the level they have been in years past, but they still have an excellent spine.
I'm hoping Madge realises that Patty and Payne need a break (maybe not together) and times the breaks well.
Patty starts to conserve his energy to play long minutes, and he loses his defensive impact.
And I hope Hunt has put some more time into his dummy half service - he has some great guile, but sometimes it's just a quick pass from the ground and in front of the half or link-man that is the money play.
I've been impressed with our yardage from centre/wings in the last third of the season, but they need to meet it up using their leg speed and running into space if it's there.
And please use our captain's challenge wisely. Even in both finals we blew it on dumb challenges (although the Ezra escort was a 50/50 at best).
The biggest motivation may be the feeling in '23 when they knew they had let a chance slip, and the boys will be putting in for Reyno and Hunt.

I'm hoping (and bellyache will be well aware of this and try to stamp it out) I'm hoping a few of the team mentally relaxed a tad when they saw pen ref were gone. All we need is them to drop their intensity by 1 or 2 percent and we'll bag and tag them.

I have heard first hand from one of the Storm players partners that they did not want to play the Broncs in the GF. Would have preferred the Panthers. Much harder to defend against apparently so they are shitting themselves.
My theory is that the Storm's consistency is also their biggest weakness in GFs. They don't have that next level to rise to. Penrith were similar but their consistent best has just been too good for everyone else over the past 4 years. They did not have another gear to go to when the Broncs hit the go button last Sunday. We nearly cracked them in 2023 but our fitness (and a howling headwind) let us down in the last 15 mins. We don't have that issue this year. The Storm have been Storm-like all year but to nowhere near the level of previous seasons. In an ideal scenario we hold our own in the first half and hopefully get ourselves in front or thereabouts at the break. We can then hit 'Go' with the fresh legs of Ezra and Big X. Peeks on the left and Staggs on the right to terrorise for 80 minutes.

Munster, Hughes and Paps will be trying their asses off with everything.

A couple weeks back Munster looked like he snapped his ankle... was taking hitups the next set after getting his penalty.

Hughes will be jumping off the ground after every kick and then collapsing like a sack of shit if any part of him is touched.

And even if they don't they will use their challenge to get a finger across the chin turned into a penalty.
 
Packing for Sydney (the jersey's that still fit me)...

Still torn on which one to wear on game day. Don't want to wear the wrong one and jinx us.
