Coming into the grand final on the back of 2 torrid, gruelling affairs. Losing Billy Walters the week of the game.

Karapani HIA with 15 to go. Reynolds out. Hunt unconscious. Every single referee decision the entire game going against us. It was going to take absolutely everything we had to climb this mountain.

And we did it. This team banded together, believed and followed one of the single best performances on a rugby league field I’ve ever seen from Walsh to elevate themselves to premiership glory against the most grubby, disgusting, manipulative cheats in the history of the game. Pure guts, pure heart, pure determination.

Doing it the hard way makes it sweet.

But knowing off Melbourne makes it the sweetest.

I was sure the Storm would win this game by 20, Brisbane were so lucky to get this far.. but that second half and Walsh, what a game. Just waiting to watch that tackle by Walsh at the end on Paps, just amazing.

That was immense. So much adversity with the injuries and Atkins assisting Storm for most of the first half. We finally have the Monkey off our backs and playing Storm holds no fear. Pleased for Payne, Patty , Staggs and Hunt in particular who have done a lot in the game and now have a Premiership . This group of players can now write there own history.
