POST GAME [PREMIERS, 2025] Broncos vs Storm

Hey Everyone 👋🏻 I am Good and How was that Grand Final. Rosie has been glued to my side since 6:30pm and yes she went spaz when we won and unfortunately her cat charm has tarnished never fear Mummy bought her a new one and Rosie's demonic fur brother Jack is trying to change teams from a Tiger to a Bronco.

-The NSW coach comes to the premier QLD club and turns around a lazy team into the fittest team in the comp
-One of the previously worst Broncos of all time comes back to the club, goes onto be an integral part of the squad. Playing origin and scoring two tries in the GF.
-Billy Walters, a much maligned figure plays his heart out and becomes such a fan favourite that there's not a dry eye in the city when he lifts the trophy with Reyno
-Reece Walsh drinks water from a toilet and then goes on the best individual runs of form anyone has ever seen.
-We lose our two rep level halves on the same play and later in the game our Aus rep winger to injury and then we never lose again.
-We were behind by 10 or more in every finals game and we won them all.

WTF was this season? Best ever.

Now that I've watched the key highlights, what was Hughes thinking wasting 10 seconds trying to milk a penalty right at the end, 20 meters out? At best ref blows the whistle, they have one last crack but we would have our defensive line all set by then.

Rewatch - this is not being a sour winner, just highlighting the bullshit we had to defeat to win this thing.

1st try conceded was poor from us defensively, also poor pass to Shibasaki in bad field position in the lead up to it.

Coates then milked the **** out of that penalty after their first try. Literally fell backwards and got the Penalty - sold it well. 3rd tackle six again for hand on the ball was not much in it at all. They score the second. (2 pens and 2 six against leading up to it).

On the lead up the third try, six again given to Hughes because he was kicking like a horse on top of Jensen who had long let him go. Absolute joke of a decision from Atkins. Then get another penalty for Walsh's high hit on Coates (fair). Then another phantom six again for Utoikamanu in a tackle that was repeated a dozen times and not called.... Then they score. (1 pen, 2 six agains).

Next penalty on Coates, fell and copped the bicep of Riki as he was on his knees by the time he made contact - that's as soft as a Penalty as you'd see in the NRL let alone finals, was a shocking call.
Katoa then throws the ball well forward on the 4th tackle, the kick is then ruled off Mariner but it appears to come off Coates on replay. They then score.

At half time, Nick Meany is a mile offside as there's 3 in the tackle on Shibasaki, never makes it to marker and then goes about 8m turns around and impacts Willison trying to bust through. Nothing.

Second half - Karapani's tackled twice by Munster, including getting pushed off the mark on the second effort. Ref tells him to back to his mark, no Penalty.

After the Kamakamitha no try, Willison's hit up, Harry hangs off his arm for an age after Atkins says to let go, far longer than what we were pinged for multiple times in the first half. No call.

Piakura hit flush in the face by Meanie with 30 to go which saved a try. No call.

Carrigan smashed in the head in a nasty hit by Blore just before our 4th try, no call.

Walsh gets slapped in the face with 17 to go "not much in that" and yet, happy to call Coates falling into a stationary bicep a head high.

Harry squats in the ruck with 15 to go so we can't get a fast play the ball after a dominant run by Karapani, no call (identical thing Patty was then subsequently penalised for minutes later).

Warbrick second effort with 10 to go on Shiba, not called.

The 4 minute to go - break by storm, there's no stoppage in play, but they call it back because of a "knock on melbourne" then they say, challenge is successful. There was NO BREAK IN PLAY TO CHALLENGE! Why did it give Klein a chance to rule that was a penalty, that was not report worthy - we didn't knock it on, why was it not play on? WHO KNOWS? There was no penalty given live, the call back made zero sense?

Grant with a big second effort on Walsh with 1.5 to go, not called.

Talk about kissed on the dick by the refs.

Mariner was immense. So many tough carries - he's improved out of sight this year.

Walsh's solo try was all time. That's going to be on replays for YEARS pulling that freakish shit off in a granny.

Add to that our premiership wingers are Deine Mariner and Josiah Karapani not Jesse Arthars and Selwyn Cobbo.
Both have been so good.

Amazing! What a win. Another comeback.

We defended very well in the second half. I have to wonder why storm went away from what worked in the first half and stopped going out wide. They kept doing inside balls which ultimately cost them the game.

Reece obviously best on ground but Ezra really changed the momentum when he came on and did some great hits which really changed things.

Mariner also has his best game. He was fantastic defensively and did a lot of the tough carries as well.

Finally the drought is broken.
