Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

I really don't know where that figure has come from.

All reports I've seen say the offer will be 3 million a year. To get the suggested tax breaks he would need to live outside this country from the majority of the year. I can't seem him dragging his school aged brothers away from this country, so it would likely mean his wife and baby couldn't follow him either.

It would be very difficult for him to be away from his family and leave all his caring responsibilities to his wife for more than half the year. Especially when he can still earn very good money in Australia and be with his family

(Haas manager didn't even speak to them earlier this week us planned until he gets more info from the NRL)
To make 3M aud clear os equivalent to 5M before tax. Haas told them if it's not 3m a year dont bother so he does have a price

Anyone keen on NAS on a reduced salary?
I do like the rich getting richer when it’s my club.
No ****ing chance. If Bellyache can't make NAS work hard and bend his back into tackles, no-one can. Period.

Guy is a penalty / suspension magnet.

He's also struggled to even crack first grade a large chunk of this year for a reason - he's on the outs at Melbourne and will turn into a fat, overpaid plodder taking peoples heads off and getting 8 week holidays on the regular.

I agree with everything you’ve said except the bit where you doubted Madge by saying if Belly can’t do it, no one can

Getting present-day NAS is not the rich getting richer. The guy is dumb as a door knob and is getting on, meaning he is losing the punch he once had. He's basically following the career trajectory of Sam Kasiano.

Nah, I don't even think Madge is capable of changing a person like NAS. He couldn't fix Cobbo, he won't fix NAS. NAS has long just been a giant thug. Now he's a lazy giant thug who can't bend down to make tackles. He's cooked.

So we are keeping Baker now? That seems surprising unless he is just signed to an affiliate club and not in the top 30?
Looking at the list they may have only named all the guys that have already signed elsewhere?

The other 3 Gos, Hoeter and Baker are all still on the books until November 1, so maybe they're not officially "departing" as yet??... although I think Gos has signed a 1yr deal.

I bet a lot of clubs are asking the same question.

Huge impact player. The storm had him for many years for a reason. I guess the price tag, vs game time/penalties didn't weigh up. If he was on 400k, they may have of kept him.

Penalties whilst tackling is his biggest issue, due to being enormous. I'd be interested at 400k, as any club would. BTK is going to have the same issues, yet we are persisting.

We are already one of the most penalised clubs, this time it would be for a reason.

Inspite many posters vomiting at lazy, penalty magnate, how many of us over the years wishing we had a NAS? That guy skittles humans. He has his uses, well known by the Melbourne, and opponents.

I don't think we have the salary cap space though. Reece contract coming in, Hass upgrade? It's not the worst idea, he can take that plodder called Fletcher Bakers money.

Honestly about the responses I expected re Nelson.
Plenty of valid points as to why he’s a stay away.
Although, it’s hard for me to think he’s completely washed at 29.
Wasn’t long ago he was a top tier prop, and you extend title windows by making shrewd moves and capitalising on players wanting to come to your club to chase a ring.
More than likely someone throws a bag at him and regrets it almost immediately though.

Holy shit, NAS is 29?! God, I thought he was like 25. Man, he’s so washed

Hannay and the Titans tried to sign Ben Te'o as assistant coach, despite him already being contracted for 2026. Te'o knocked them back and recommitted to us.

Te'o said:

“I won a competition (with South Sydney) in 2014 with ‘Madge’ (Maguire) as a player and four days after we won I was on a plane to Europe to go play rugby,” Te’o said.

“I never really got to enjoy it and I never got the following season where teams are coming after you and you want to go back-to-back.

“We’ve got the World Club Challenge and the opportunity to go deep into next year’s finals. They’re the things that motivate me.

“They’re hungry to improve because this was Madge’s first season as coach and my first season with some of my defensive systems. You have to think that second time around it’s going to run a bit smoother and we can really dial into the detail.

“There’s a lot of improvement and we had some hiccups this year which I’d like to think won’t happen second time around. Improvement’s a big thing that we’re all chasing.”

Te’o said he enjoyed working alongside Trent Barrett and Matt Ballin as Maguire’s assistants.

“We’re sitting here now after winning the competition so it’s been a great move,” he said.

“I have to thank ‘Kevvie’ for bringing me back. He said to me ‘you’re a Bronco, Benny, and I want you to come home’.

“I played with Patty (Carrigan), Payne (Haas), Reyno (Adam Reynolds), Benny (Hunt), (Jordan) Riki and Kotoni (Staggs), so it was an opportunity to try and help them win.

“We’re a well-balanced team. Me and Madge have a relationship that goes back a long time. We won a premiership as coach and player, and now as colleagues.

“It’s been great to learn off of him and also the other coaches. ‘Baz’ (Barrett) has got so much experience and Matty’s work ethic is unbelievable.”

Very clever of Te'o. Without pointing the finger at the Titans' glaring weaknesses and what they were missing he simply listed them all as Broncos' strengths and emphasized that they were now in the processes of making these areas even stronger.

He needs to make defending the kick in behind the line a priority so many times we were caught out by teams with this simple move. Faders did us a few times as did Mal-born

Signing wise, I am actually not sure what the best course of action for Brisbane is to take now.

On one hand surely it would be beneficial to reap the rewards of now being a destination club for good players wanting to win a Premiership, likely on a cheaper contract.

On the other hand if we look at the gold star example of Penrith's dynasty, every year they would shed key players, but almost always would back their system internally to replace them, with the odd value signing here and there.
