OFFICIAL Jonah Pezet to join Broncos in 2027

I'm not saying he'll leave tomorrow.

while I don't see a top 4 team throwing him big coin, you can bet your bottom dollar that a desperate team will.

It is very rare to do an apprenticeship as long as Pezet. most young players aren't prepared to develop properly especially when a club offers bigger money and an NRL spot.

Even Walsh who is as dedicated and as talented as they come took the money and ran ... and he only had Isaako in front of him. I have no doubt 12 months in the QLD cup would have done him the world of good, and got him to where he is today sooner
Yeah. I agree there is a definite chance that happens and wouldn't begrudge him taking it either.

Don't think it's the smart play though. In two years time after Hunt and Reynolds go and he knows the Broncos outlook and is in a Pezet like position would be the smart play. I don't think he will be ready for first grade in the interim.

Very few players in the modern game would do what Pezet did at the Storm

Pezet signed his last contract in 22 and started playing NRL in 23 and played Cup- that's the same as Mozer. Lots of players follow that timeline. Pezet has played 26 Cup games and 18 NRL games since then. That's pretty normal in that age group 18-22. Especially halves at strong clubs.

Hunt, Reynolds and Duffy are off contact in 12 months. That leaves Pezet arriving in 27 with Mam as the only two signed halves beyond 26.

I just hope we don't toss Black, his kicking game is elite and yeah the half back apprenticeship is much longer than other positions so he can't expect much playing time for the next few seasons but I do think he gets the 7 full time after Pezet gets too expensive for how we play.
I can realistically see a scenario where the Broncos ask Pezet if he'd like to remain at the Eels, otherwise he might find himself behind other players in the queue for 7. That's only going to happen if Madge can give Black and Duffy some game time in the halves to push their cases.

Realistically, Hunt should be second in line for 7 this season, with Billy potentially (when he's fit) behind Ezra at 6. It might be a while before either get their chance, and it will be only temporary.

I'm still hoping Reyno will retire. There would be no shame in that.

That is what Pezet has done, signed with the Storm August 2020- after a release from the Knights- (conveniently left off the poor Knights, poaching Storm narrative.)

Leaving November 2025.

Exercising the option he had written into his contract .

How long did he have off during COVID ? So not really 5 years waiting for a spot .

Are we still a chance Pezet to Broncs in 26?

Hunt taking a pay cut and playing on in '27 (even '28 if his body holds up) and playing 14 I want to see, but surely Arey is done after next year. It's selfish of Arey to want to keep going, if he does, with his body the way it is and Pezet arriving imo.

Unless Hunt or Reyno bail early

Watch the most recent episode of Inside Ball Podcast, that isn't happening with Reyno. He's even talking about potentially playing on beyond next year.

Hunt I think will play on beyond '26.

They talk a big game, but they are both on borrowed time from an age perspective.

Hunt's had less injuries so maybe? ARey - I predict he'll miss at least half this upcoming season to injuries (again). No NRL team is signing him to play half their games on the money he wants. He'd be far better off retiring and taking coaching money. Broncs would love to keep him around to mentor our halves.

Hunt I think could do '27. Reynolds shouldnt even be doing '26.

He doesn't want big money. Most teams would want him for the money he's asking.

If some of the reports are correct he'll be on about $350k - $400k next season

Wonder if he could be a chance before the end of the transfer window next year as a way to fit him in

How come melbum and the dogs can get their guys mid way through the current season when they sign them and we have to wait until 2027?

We're still doing something wrong. Maybe something like respecting the rules.
