Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

Lead story in the CM right now. Read & Carayannis are saying R360 is confident they'll land Haas for around 3 million a season, plus tax breaks. They're not saying he will but that he's leaning in that direction.

That doesn't sound like anything new... those dollars have been around for a month or so now... maybe it's R360 actually putting a contract in front of him, but who really knows much about what that competition is at the moment.

Would be a huge gamble for Haas to sign that as one of the first players... Paps, NAS, RTS, etc. that have been linked are pretty much done in NRL and could move to other union codes if R360 falls over.

Lomax is basically a winger in NRL and that's not where he wants to play... if R360 falls over he'd just go and sign a union deal and earn a shit ton of money in France, Japan wherever and then Wallabies would sign him instantly as well.

Haas isn't really a union player... I'm assuming he'd be an 8, but that would mean he needs to learn the scrums and lineouts, which is not something you just pick up. League forwards have typically been put into inside centre, but even though Haas is an athletic freak I don't think he has the speed to play there in anything other than the proposed mickey mouse R360 comp against park footballers.

R360 also looks like a very short term option for him... go and earn mega dollars for a couple years, then come back to NRL when the new CBA starts up and keep going...but the proposed 10yr ban means if R360 falls over he can't exactly pack up his family and move to French/Japanese Rugby.

Everyone thinks he'd be able to win a court battle to overturn the ban and play again, but then he's using his mega dollars to fight them in court OR he never gets the mega dollars and has to fight the ban anyway... and then on top of that he's wasting a chunk of his career in the courts.

If we're talking 6 months down the track and R360 has actually signed some players and put some actual logistics around the comp then he'd be a risk of jumping, but it seems a huge risk to take before the comp really looks like anything

With Payne, like most players, its all about the money. He's never really shown any signs for us of taking unders, and you cant really blame a player for wanting to cash in with a deal between 2 and 3 million a year. If the contract is solid enough and its worth his while, i think he will take it. Lot of money there to look after his family.

Long term Haas could be getting 2 million a year for all we know and how the games grows. Leaving suddenly completely blocks this and he'll be know as a deserter.

Are Mike Tindall and the Royal Family funding this R360 shitshow independently? They are yet to spruik any genuine and significant investors, which you'd think they'd be doing by now if they had them in an attempt to get big name players actually keen.

Otherwise I would be worried about the cheques actually clearing.

If he goes, all the best to him, he was a massive part in giving us our long awaited premiership. He would leave a massive hole but that said, Willison's time would just be fast forwarded and he is about as close a thing to Haas as you are going to get but even so, he isn't Haas.

If this comp did land Haas, that would be massive because right now, no one (myself included) is taking them seriously but Haas going would change that in an instant and you'd suddenly find other league players becoming interested.

The reality is, is several big name league players go, as much as the NRL would talk tough, there is no way possible they wouldn't let these guys back in in a year or two. Its easy to talk tough on say one player, much harder on 10-20 big name players.

This is really interesting. I can completely understand them being desperate to land Haas no matter the cost because their legitimacy or lack thereof hinges on his signature. Other than Walsh or Cleary, there isn't a bigger name/player in league.

I think the bigger call is banning player managers.

If Haas goes then old mate Mr. Prestige Worldwide would be banned as well... so he'll have to go off to court to overturn it.

I don't know how many clients he has in the NRL, but someone like Isaac Moses has a bit more of a stake if one of his players goes.

This is meant to be a union comp though... and they're trying to get interest from European union fans... they don't even know who Haas is and the fact that he's a League player is a deterrent to rusted on union fans.

Union fans see League as a poor cousin... why would they suddenly be interested in a plastic league spearheaded by a league prop playing out of position.

The whole concept just seems so stupid

Was about to say something similar.

Haas is a ridiculous athlete and league shines a spotlight on his ability to be that.

If he’s in Union, it certainly won’t be as a prop and he’ll spend his contract running at centres or halves, which he’ll be good at no doubt, but he’s still a league player that’ll have to learn all the intricacies of it, like how to play the ruck no matter where he is on the field and the tactics of how they want to move the ball around with continuous phases

They’ll be paying for his name right now and not his Union ability.

Overall it’s a really poor business model to hinge it on getting big names from other sports, instead of just starting up a rebel comp of the same sport. It’s like signing Ronaldo to play Gaelic football. Transferable skills sure, but they won’t be great at it

Oh I agree, its stupid but just saying, they won't sign any bigger name from Australia.

As i said yesterday, i fully expect haas re-signing confirmation within the next week. Multiple instagram stories unprompted glazing him on the broncos social media in the last few days. There is a motive to do that. Then every-single-time just before he has re-signed there were fresh reports of him leaving to a huge deal, almost like they were strategically put out to get the last bit of milk from the story/clicks before they are unable to for about 6 months. Rinse and repeat....
I hope you're right!

They're probably hoping some league fans jump over to watch 360 with these signings - also gets media attention.

It wont work.
