Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

I have always said that from your top 30 roster, NRL should allow a marquee player allowance where 2 players can get paid completely outside of the cap.
Would help counteract the international offers and keep the best players in the sport.
Maintains fairness because that means there are 34 spots up for grabs around the league.
Would also mean every player in theory gets a pay bump because there's roughly $2M that would get dispersed to the rest of the top 30.

People always focus on the negative " what if " scenarios of R360. Playing devils advocate, You cant ignore the positives for players either. Huge money in a much bigger sport than league with a bigger world wide reach, which will also open many more doors to way bigger sponsorships. If it takes off, its going to have a lot of attention.

Still trying to find who is actually funding it

They are keeping it very close to their chest right now arent they. We loosley know its British and American investors, with probably some middle eastern backers who have interests in bringing the Rugby world cup there.

R360 has serious money behind it. Stupid money.

It’s not going away.
What’s the return on investment though ? All of the world’s Rugby governing bodies appear to be dead against it .. I can’t imagine there’s much if any supporter base for it .. and how are they going to manufacture excitement & buy-in from fans for a competition with no history, no meaning, no tribalism, no substance - just a collection of mercenaries spread amongst eight major cities, many of which aren’t Rugby locations (Dubai, Lisbon & Madrid - lol) ..

Even with the world’s best marketing team, It’s going to take a generation at least to create genuine interest and care for the components of this Frankenstein product

only one i can find really is 885 capital and they are pretty scetchy involved with the pfl who just went through a round of heavy pay cuts,if it doesnt make money fast the money being invested will dry up even faster.

Cant remember what it was like at the time, but this kind of reminds me of the IPL. I'd bet that had plenty of the traditionalists doubting it and the massive money in it. Time will tell with this R360.

The big difference with the IPL is that their not only were the locations of team set ... But they played the comp in a cricket mad country
....they didn't have a bunch of wandering teams playing a comp in a country that's barely heard of cricket.

Plus cricket is a much more popular sport than Rugby.

Now R360 could be successful... But it will need to make money fast, otherwise I can see the investors pulling their money out quickly, leaving the players who have signed up in the lurch

Not to mention, what's the rivalry between the teams? I mean sure there is some Portugal vs Spain in Lisbon/Madrid but is that really going to translate?

The sort of money they are going to have to spend on rosters will evaporate quickly. Not to mention coaching staff, stadium hire, admin, etc.

I just can't see how they'll generate interest and attract crowds in places that just aren't established rugby strongholds.

It's got to be a ponzi scheme of some kind.

One difference Indian folks treat cricket like religion .
Do the rest of the world care as much about Rugby ?

And again they are based in cities and represent them . A moving circus does not make people feel like its their representatives .

also IPL is majority local players .

If Mozer isn't our 9 by the end of next season, he's off to another club. Surely.
Id imagined it would be a three way shootout next year for the 14 between him paix and walters with hunt starting at 9
