They would both be basket cases and just a drain on the comp. The only thing they would be competing for each year would be the spoon.

Also it would wreck the chances of getting a 2nd New Zealand club in the comp as that would mean 21 teams which wouldn't work.

The NRL really needs to read the riot act to HolmanBarnes group and say get your act together otherwise yes you can have your precious magpies team back but it will be in NSW cup there is no place for it in the NRL.

Grant and Munster basically ensured that they could be the only two Australians picked. It was such a bizarre series from the Australians.

Otherwise, he led his club to a GF appearance and played a key role in the Maroons victorious Origin campaign.

I'd take that over Dylan Brown who was barely sighted at club level.

The problem is, the Golden Boot criteria changed as of course you are aware, so club form and origin as far as I understand, doesn't matter. It really should have been Brown.

I don't think anyone deserved it.

The nominees only played three games and a lot of them weren't even against one another. It'd be like judging the Dally Ms based on the first three rounds of footy where the two best teams never went head to head.

Still, if we're comparing calender years, Grant clearly had a better calender year than Brown.

I agree with everything you’ve said. The new criteria is a bit silly, just pointing out that is what it is now.

The Tigpies have extended Benji Marshall until the end of 2030
Seems crazy that Benji has somehow become this mesiah at tigers.

He's not got them close to finals as yet and last year he had a spine of 1. Bula, 6. Galvin, 7. Luai, 9. Api... that is up there with one of the best spines in the comp... certainly a top 8 spine.

If tigers had a better coach they wouldve played finals this year and maybe close last year... but somehow Benji is now untouchable.

That club is in all sorts of trouble.

What a dumpster fire. The club finally starts looking on the up...so they decide...hmm...this is uncomfortable...let's take ourselves down again.

It’s so funny that anyone would actually think contracts mean anything these days for coaches, ESPECIALLY at the Tigers. This is a smoke screen so the players have some confidence in the club since they’ve threatened that they’ll leave if he’s gone, they’ll re-sign those players, give Benji another year (or two) and he’s a goner. That man is not surviving till 2030 😂

I don't think the club necessarily thinks that Benji is a great coach. It looks to me like a bunch of Tigers players want out and would be using the "coach got sacked" get-out clauses that their managers probably demanded in their contracts.

Benji is very little chance of making it to 2030... he'd be a decent chance of getting sacked sometime next year... but it just means this stupid board is setting themselves up for failure.

If they do sack him next year they'll be in the cross-hairs with "you only just extended him months ago"... plus they'll have to pay him out when they do inevitably sack him

That club has a deathwish having Elias involved at that level.

I’d say they’ve had this death wish long before this. The NRL should say if you guys want separate licenses that is fine, you can do that in NSW cup and we’ll give your licence to Adelaide or a second team in NZ or just remove it entirely, there’s already too many teams.

according the the Courier Mail ... The Storm are launching a "BOLD new pathways program" that is set to "rock" both their NRL and AFL rivals.

that bold initiative from the Storm is to "make its most significant move with a commitment to developing home grown talent with a series of significant changes to its set up."

:rofl

Well this lines up with them removing their Queensland pathways. Maybe the NRL has finally had the shits with them not doing a thing to develop the game in that state, despite all the success that they've been given, and the bullshit they have pulled. Also not surprised Bellamy is has been looking to make his exit.
