OFFICIAL Payne Haas to depart Broncos at the end of 2026

I agree, obviously I didn't make my point well. My response was around not caring about getting into a dick measuring competition with Wayne just because he has signed Payne, he isn't in the business of trying to win premierships anymore he is just focused on trying to win this war he has against us.

I don't even wanna measure against the wrinkled of dick. I just want him to lose at this shitty game he's trying to play. Then a team bus to clip him.

The journos are hilarious though.

You're telling me 48 hours ago Weidler didn't have a clue this was even happening, (he would have posted something if he did) but now all of a sudden after the fact, he has sources galore to confirm we low balled. What a crock of shit.

Not to mention that he was the only one with those sources, since literally every other journo has claimed the money is the same

we just won the premiership with payne like 4 months ago...
So you think chucking Payne and nothing into that squad will win them a premiership? With basically no halves despite Walker that likely won't be there by the time he gets there. Cool bro, as usual can't really have an adult discussion with you if that is your position.

A weird thought from my end(why not yay?)😀.
So, as this entire circus is getting out of control from the shitty biased jurnos, WHAT IF when the boys come back from England, Haas feels that the boys aren’t gelling with him as they use to & he can’t continue here for this season as he has burned the bridges here, agitates a release request on some weird stupid grounds?

In an event such a request is made & DD approves it, he becomes a free agent for this season & guess who he would end up at? It’s the fcukin Storm because they’ve cap(endless that is). He anyways intended to sign with them before he signed the 6 year deal with us.
That way,
1. Won a premiership with us,
2. Played for Samoa because of mom,
3. Played for cheat fcuks,
4. Play for Rabbits because of dad &
5. Intend to play other code if old Fox is not coaching beyond 2027.

That way he would cross off all of his bucket list items 🤦.

It’s all weird, crazy & beyond imaginary stuff but I honestly can’t rule out any possibilities with this guy. Great individual contributor but a selfish team player.

Wishful thinking, but it's high time the NRL started growing some ****ing balls over these flimsy contracts after the whole Lomax saga.

If you want to break a contract, you sit out till it's expiry date. Club's shouldn't be at the mercy of players whims. If you sign a mega bucks deal for x years, it should be binding. Otherwise it's completely meaningless to have contracts at all.

If things go bad and the player gets injured long term (Bird situation) - the club cops it on the chin. Why do the players hold all the cards?

I actually think that's one of the more believable things any of the journalists has put forward.. Weidler is camp SBW. Haas is SBW adjacent so it's plausible Weidler's got hold of someone in his camp. That doesn't mean the average fan would agree it was a low ball offer, but in the eyes of Haas and it crew it may have been.

The thing that just puzzles me is how bad of a signing it is for Souths. It makes no sense for there club to sign a forward on 1.2 million dollars who the only 2 years this decade he has made finals is because Reece Walsh was the best player in the comp. Really strange. I rate Payne but he isn't a match winner. That club has no spine and no depth and they decide to go spend 1.2 on a Prop??? that makes no sense to me. Payne is a luxury very few clubs can logically afford. It puts there cap deeper into mess.

I don't look at that Rabbitohs side and squad and think premiership, AT ALL. They are all held together by sticky tape most the year. Don't get me wrong the only player worth that money at there club is Payne Haas but they are going to spend his entire contract struggling whilst they try to put the pieces around him.

Great coach, big club, good facilites. I get all of that. I get why he chose Souths (beyond the puzzling decision to leave the Broncos). He's not a match winner without the right pieces. Souths do not have the right pieces at all. Over stacked in the forwards, zero depth, bottom 9 worthy spine and overrated backline.

I love Payne he is a terrific player that works his ass off and that's what you need for a front rower. He is the best front rower of all time in my opinion. He isn't a match winner. 1.2 million dollars is for match winners.

Not to mention the lazy sack of shits they have around him. Smith, Fifita, Mitchell and Walker in the same team is a DISASTER.

Wayne looks worse than a 90 year olds ballsack. I wouldn't have gone anywhere expecting him to still be around.

Also if his deciding factors on leaving the literal premiers are Wayne Bennett, Trell and Fifita then you really have to question his logic.

A obviously legend of a coach that still hasn’t won anything for 15 years, a fullback, or is he a centre, that can’t stay fit to save his life and a second rower that even the Titans fans didn’t want anywhere near there club and doesn’t have the work ethic in his whole body that Payne has in his little finger.
I think his thought process is that he’ll have a dinosaur of a coach who has zero expectations and the laziest players who are getting paid big money to finish their season in September… that’s a win for him.
Play hard and work less is their motto….

I listened to James Graham's podcast. His take in it was that the club should sack Maguire if he is the problem to keep Haas. Just to be clear, this is not a joke post, that was his actual take. Luke Keary was sniggering in the background when he was saying it.
That is not surprising in the slightest coming from that grinch. Wouldn’t be surprised if his part of a “I hate broncos club” on social media.

As if the club would even consider sacking the current premiership winning coach, even if he was solely responsible for losing the player that ALREADY had one foot out the door.

I used to rate James Graham as an intelligent analyst... Unfortunately, he's gone the same way as the rest of the rugby league media lemmings.

I couldn't believe what he was saying, in fact it was worse than that because he declared Madge was the issue and because he couldn't understand why he had left he decided the only option was something happened between Madge and Payne at the Toowoomba camp. He deduced that out of the multiple conflicting reports and a scenario that he had cooked up in his head based on absolutely no information. For a guy that constantly tells everyone how smart he is he can sure do a great impersonation of a fool.

Yeah that would be lies... no way did they go backwards in salary when there's an increase in salary cap coming

I do think there may be some validity to this thought process in a way. Payne has worked his ass off every day of his life since he was an early teenager, maybe even before. His dad would have him running to exhaustion daily and this has continued his whole life and career. I would imagine the thing that has kept him going is the dream of a premiership. He has that now and his body must really be starting to feel the effects of the grind. I'm not saying that he is going to slack off or turn to shit, but has some of the desire gone now he has the premiership? Did the big payday of R360 that would have been coupled with less work sound really ****ing good and after that fell through and doing another hard pre-season was the talk from Fatrell and Fifita about how Uncle Wayne lets them train how they want because they are the stars sound really good?

He would have to know that Souths are way further off a premiership than we are to another one. Makes you wonder if we lost last year would he still be here? Probably.

It is hilarious how many of the talking heads are saying the Bunnies will be favourites for the Comp in 2027. Their squad is a rabble.
