State of Origin Changes Forever

Feel like it was inevitable. I think it's possible to be passionate about both your state and represent another country from a heritage perspective. I think that' should probably be part of the emerging squad stuff - identifying who is legitimately desperate and passionate to play for QLD and who's just there for the rep bonus payment.

Herbie was 17 when he came over to play for the Bears.

I'm looking to see who we actually get and I'm not sure its anyone.

Kikau - too old
Herbie - slightly too old and he is the one we really could have benefitted from
Mariner - he might also just miss the criteria but he's in with a shout
Mulitalo - he misses by a couple of months I think plus I can't bring myself to support this bloke in anything
Willison - I think he misses the cut similar to Kikau
Jahrome Hughes - just misses the cut I think, similar to Mulitalo
Kini - misses the cut
Te Maire Martin - misses the cut
Nikora - I'm fairly sure he misses the cut

Taumololo - he definitely qualifies but its 10 years too late and he's broken...so...yay for Qld?
Kris - he is definitely eligible, so that is actually pretty cool
Kodi Nikorima - yay?

So we get Kris (very cool), a broken JT2, Nikorima (yay) and Ponga continues to play. Wow, how lucky.

Meanwhile, NSW AT LEAST get:
AFB - certain
McLean - certain
Radley - certain
Moses Leota - certain
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak - certain

possibly JFH but maybe not, Timoko maybe, Tapine maybe, Paseka quite possibly, Naufahu Whyte possibly

Random side point, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad would almost be eligible for Victoria but isn't.
Kris was born in Qld but moved to Canberra (which those cheating grubs claim as NSW) when he was 8. There's a chance he's ruled to be a NSW player like Luke Keary.

Nikora - I'm fairly sure he misses the cut
SEN indicated that he was in qld when he was 9... so it sounds like he would be eligible IF he actually wants to play origin

hell yeah on Seb Kris, one of my favourite non-broncos.

So NSW can trot out:

10. Haas
11. Martin
12. Young
13. Yeo

14. Brayley/Robson/whomever
15. Leota
16. Tapine (maybe)
17. Radley

Qld:
1. Walsh
2. Ponga/Hammer
3. Toia/Hammer/Kris
4. Hammer/Shibasaki/Kris
5. Coates
6. Munster
7. Dearden
8. Carrigan
9. Grant
10. Collins
11. Gilbert
12. Capewell
13. Tino

14. Mam
15. Flegler
16. JT2
17. Cotter

He could be, they might have access to info I don't. Based on what I can find, he would have been 15 but obviously what's publicly available is pretty limited.

SEN saying that Leota is a no... Brandy looked into it a few years back

Well maybe but again, based on what I can find, he definitely qualifies. He was in NSW before the age of 13.

This would actually be pretty funny if so to be honest. The one guy that based on what I can tell that would actually qualify and be cool to have...doesn't qualify based on a technicality.

I think when eligible for both the player gets to decide... did I see somewhere that Kris previously played for Qld in an U20's origin??

It used to be that you could choose, now they have questions you have to answer and the majority wins.

Apparently he played U16 and U18 for NSW.

Taumololo was at Kirwan by 14 2007-2010 and played Queensland Under 18 and Australian Under 16.

Taumalolo for the 15 minute cameo fairytale appearance a la Josh Papali'i?

Kris played Under 16 Origin and Under 18 Origin for NSW. He scored twice and NSW won Under 18.

He was born in Brisbane and played for Wests.
