Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

I agree with allowing Arthars to go if he can secure his future elsewhere. he should be playing NRL not QLD cup. unfortunately for him, he'll struggle to do that with us.

If I were him, i'd be looking at Perth instead of the Titans though. The Titans may improve under Hannay ... but i've got no faith they can be anything more than a bottom 4 team

You'd assume he already lives on the GC though, and could keep his same circle. He may get more money in Perth but a lot to be said about not having to move.

He can maximize his price by going after Perth.

The only drawback is living in Perth.

Call me a glutton for punishment and fair enough but I'd be happy to let Jesse go and get Selwyn back. Cobbs should never be playing in another jersey, its just wrong.
Definitely agree,
Word of them playing Fuller at fullback and hammer in the centres. Herbie is locked in as the other centre then Isaako, Averilo and Bostock when he's back as well as Cobbo are battling it out for the 2 wing spots.
Bring back Cobbo

If we do release Arthars, it should be to the Warriors and no one else. We have a good history of swapping players.
Though they got flogged by Manly in their 1st trail, they’ve plenty of middles we can swap Jesse for. Wonder what does he think of returning to his former club? Shouldn’t be a hard no I reckon 🤷‍♂️

Could always swap him with Tony Francis and get the brothers together. I thought Tony had a blinder the other day.

Courier Mail reporting that Tupou Francis has been extended to the end of 2028... expected to move into the Top 30 next year.

Good to see the club get ahead on extending a super promising talent before he can hit the market

The article says "It is understood that Francis has inked a new deal worth about $600,000 – one of the biggest the Broncos have ever offered a teen."

It also says that before Haas left we gave Francis permission to talk to rival clubs, should those clubs be willing to pay a $250k transfer fee. Souths and Canberra were reportedly considering paying the transfer fee

He signed until 2028 in 2024.

He's only 17, just finished school and hasn't played Cup yet. He was the Bears Under 17 captain last year. He doesn't turn 18 until May.

It could prove perfect timing, plays the Meninga season- he's only played two games in Meninga which finishes May, turns 18 and then plays Cup after turning 18 in May.

He signed a four-year deal in 24 so he's got plenty of time.

Yeah not sure they would've actually been offering Francis to other clubs... that has me concerned about R&R, but I'd assume it's just media talking shit.

I'd think the $600k is the total contract value, because that's how they report contracts nowadays... that would make it like $300k per year, which is still a fair bit for an 18/19yr old.

Haas was signed for 6yr @ $600k per year from memory... easily the biggest we've signed a teenager for

We know Payne's salary from his court documents when he was suing Orr.

2017- $85,000
2018-$110,000
2019- $250,000
2020-$448,000
2021-$548,000
2022-$748,000
2023- $798,000
2024-$848,000

Take away 23 and 24 because he got an upgrade and signed for 25 and 26. After that upgrade the 23,24, 25 and 26 would be over a million. But Broncos got him cheaply for a long while.

Based on nothing but thinking a bit out of the box but could the Broncos change up the forward pack a bit with Haas moving on. Jamie Humphries is a jet and a fairly big solid unit - could we lure him North to play 13? Could have 8. Jensen 9. Chosen Hooker 10. Carrigan 11. Piakura 12. Riki 13. Humphries

Could allow Mam and Pezet to run more with Humphries playing a Yeo type role distributing to the two 5/8s and Walsh doing his thing. Would give some great kicking options as well and gives cover across the halves and hooker during a game if needed and not have to utilise the 6 man bench (or easily adapt if they pull the rule if they get backlash this year).

I wouldn't mind getting Humphries... I think he was originally lined up to play lock for bunnies, but the pommie halfback failed and Humphries went well at 7 in the trials.

Not sure how long he's signed to bunnies, but we need more ball playing middles to allow us to take Patty off the field.

Not sure I'd go as far as Humphries starting, but having him around the squad as the Smoothy replacement would be my thinking.

Also I really don't want to see Patty at prop in the near future... too much wear and tear on someone that we will need to lead the forward pack well into the future.
