They are not going to deny his release if they don't get a player after already announcing the release is a compassionate release.

If they didn't like the broncos' offer of nothing then they could say nope go and talk to some of the 9 Sydney teams and see what they're offering.

Barnett saying I don't want to go to any other team becomes more of a shit storm to him than wahs... especially when that one team is the league antagonist and located 6 hours away from Taree

I have no issues losing Riki or Mariner tbh.
Been waiting years for Riki to step up and be a quality Second Rower for more than 3 games a Season.
I'm tired of waiting.

Mariner has his heart set on being a Centre, but just like Isaako or Tesi Niu, all that highly promising athletic ability is let down by room temperature footy IQ. He needs to follow Isaako's path and accept he'll only ever be a winger.

Ye mariner can go tbh. He is text book 2020-ish bronco. High talent, with no footy iq. We all know what happens here, we have 100s of examples.

Can't see value for us if we trade a 32 old forward for a 23 year old with 19 years of football in front of him.

I don’t want to give up Mariner. He’s had a poor start to the season but he was amazing last year. We spend years waiting for these kids to come good and he’s coming good. It would be a terrible idea to lose him or Xman, these two should be non-negotiable.

I like Barnett and would like to have him but not if it costs us someone we’ve produced and wants to stay. This has the potential to destabilise the group.

Mariner ceiling is enormous. If Staggs gives him the ball he scores, if Walsh pass finds him he is gone. He is electric , his yardage game is pretty solid. Once he learns how to catch a high ball he will be great for us

On a side note, I even think all other 16 clubs depth back rowers are better than Riki and gos we are cooked.. I don’t understand, biggest club in the NRL, and no one has the brains to be able to scout a decent back rower in Australia or New Zealand? Like what are we doing here? Who are our scouts….

Not really any decent back rowers off contract this year - after 27 there is a huge list
- we could bring kapewah back for a retirement season, at least you know he’ll give you 100 percent every game, just to bridge for 2027
- Su’a should come home !! Always rated him, would be great right edge for us
- Briton Nikora returns to qld
- could be turn shiba into a backrower?
- Dylan Egan - Madge style back rower, tough and gritty, great future ahead of him
- Finefeuiaki, wouldn’t have to relocate , has the dog in him. Would be great
- surprised Madge didn’t go for Oryn Keely before Melbourne did
- Ata Mariota is off contract this year, could he be a go with mudcrab off the bench, and aublix at back row


There are a lot of options moving forward, but we can’t resign Riki when his contract is up after 27

We really need Piakura to get a good run of injury free footy, all the talent in the world, plays the game hard; just constant injuries and head knocks poor bloke

Highly doubt mariner is off to the wahs, they’ve got endless supply of outside backs , AKP can’t even get a run there - I’d be sad, him and karapani were the driving force of starting our sets back end of last year, NRL leading try scorer 2026 let’s go
