Apples to oranges, Walsh was off-contract and signed with a Aucklund based club who happened to be based near Walsh's home due to unforseen circumstances. Once the reality of the situation sunk in Reece couldn't wait to get back to Brissie.

I don't think Mozer is a flight risk and I don't think he'll have to wait long for his opportunity. I don't think he'll even need a Man of the Match performance in QCup - just some basic match fitness and confidence in his body will be enough.

I see your point but I think you’re understating it a little.

A local junior who we developed, was widely considered an incredible talent and who turned out to be arguably the best player in the game chose to not only leave, but leave early. Sure, the stars aligned for him to return but it very easily could have never eventuated. He absolutely should never have left in the first place and the fact it all worked out doesn’t mean it wasn’t poor management on our part to let it happen.

Maybe you don’t consider Mozer a flight risk, but Perth desperately need players. It’s not outside the realm of possibility that they offer Mozer a starting 9 role plus $700,000+ a year to be their marquee signing. If it’s halfway through the season and he’s still stuck behind a middle-of-the-road Paix then how appealing would that offer suddenly look? and if he took it and agitated for an early release then we likely wouldn’t stand in the way. I’d prefer to avoid that risk altogether.

Certainly hope you’re right about his time coming sooner than later.

I dont know what it was expecting but this side is rather dissapointing.

I get that mass changes shouldn't have been made but gos surely had to go. He's been consistently a 6/10 type player which is ok for a squad-depth guy, but that was 1/10 against penriff.

I would love to hear C.Smiths take on our current 9 situation, although I’m not sure how much time he is actually spending inside the 4 walls.
Surely he saw what we all saw in the WCC & rd 1 to say hang on a minute, we aren’t getting much out of our current starting 9.
I know he came out a few weeks ago and gave Mozer big wraps, we would be crazy if we weren’t leaning on him for some guidance about our current/future 9.

I haven’t seen enough of Mozer recently coming off his injury however, not sure it could be worse than what we are currently getting out of Paix.
Wasn’t even Kevvie shopping Paix around?

In the team list article on Foxsports it mentions that Smith was impressed with Mozer through pre-season training.

Paix has been somewhat serviceable but he's not dangerous enough out of dummy half. I would rather Hunt and Mozer in the side.

Considering how slow we start, it blows my mind we dont start with our strongest side with Hunt (and thankfully Mam) starting.

I just want to take a step back because this whole Walsh example annoys me.

Walsh didn't leave because he had his heart-broken when Kevie read out the Round 1 team. He left because the Warriors offered him overs to play for them.

Now Walsh should never have been in that position. He should have been signed in 2020 but Brisbane just had to deal with the absolute worst end of a global pandemic.

At the end of the day, the Walsh to Warriors serves more as a cautionary tale for the Warriors. They paid for his NRL scholarship and the Broncos immediately got the benefits out of it.

In this scenario do I win a million dollars?

We're not half-way through the season and the Bears can't announce Mozer's signing until November. Even so, there's been no indication from the Broncos or Mozer that he wants to leave the club. There were reports that another club wanted Mozer on a loan deal and the Broncos denied them - they have plans for him this season.

I'm a broken record - I just watched him play 30 minutes in a miserable game where he deputised for Mason Teague. I didn't come out of that game expecting to see him in the #9 for the Broncos.

I don't want it to seem like I'm here just to stonewall. If anything I was just being a fence-sitter and my point was that you could give him a few weeks to find his bearing in QCup. However he doesn't need to be dominating the competition ala Grant to deserve an opportunity.

At a certain point you're just stifling a player's development by keeping them at that level.

So the question from me for this game is, do we want to see Pezet have a cracker of a game against us or see him struggle again?

Hes got 20 odd rounds to find some form. It wont happen quickly. DCE was out of sorts at the chooks.

Re Mozer... have to remember that Sunday was literally his first game of the year (didn't get any trials because he was in England watching an exhibition game), coming off shoulder surgery (did he end up getting the surgery?) and at a new team in Burleigh.

About a month into the season he will likely be back up to full speed... we play Storm in Melbourne Rd 3... I'd say you give the guys with the jersey that game and see how they go before making changes.

Only exception there is potentially Grant Anderson... but risk of Melbourne knowing whatever weakness he might have ::cough:: his defence ::cough:: and exploit it

He had surgery before the end of last season from memory, might even have been before the end of the QCup season.

Arthars was fine, he didn't break any records, but he was as solid as Mozer, Bukowski, Delouise and Hunt.

I would certainly put Semu and Te Kura below them and Anderson and Verhoeven above them.

Duffy's kicking game on Saturday in the wet elevates him. I said on Saturday it was near Pride 24 levels; his variety is excellent and always has been since Meninga- His bomb and short kick is his best kick and on Saturday they were worth gold.

Athars also had Mitchell outside him who dropped five balls I would be a bit reluctant to combine with my winger too, Anderson had Verhoeven outside of him who he just had to keep giving chances to and it made him look like they've been playing together for 10 years.

He didn't have surgery on his jaw or shoulder. He broke his jaw 6th July and has just rested and travelled since then.
