2026 NRL General Discussion Thread

Burns got his charge downgraded to grade 1. Wonder who the first to challenge and fail with the Cleary defence will be.

Couldnt have happened. I was told Cleary got off only because he was from Penrith and NSW.

Or maybe its because Braidon Burns is so important to the Cowboys we can't cope without such a superstar and the league loves the Cowboys.

I really can't keep up.

I choose to believe that the NRL is actually punishing us by continuing to pick a journeyman average footballer like Braidon Burns. Yep thats what I am going to go with.

You might want to look up the definition of precedent... the Cleary decision has given the league precedent that they can point to.

- Arm low
- Feet planted at contact
- Any adjustment in height (no longer has to be mitigating factors like slipping)
- No HIA

You got the above then you can smoke someone in the face

Im assuming this isn't a crack at me and more of a general statement, but I'm all for everyone using the same defence now and long may they continue to get charges downgraded for hits like Cleary's.

After Cleary got downgraded for his shot, they couldn't then uphold Burns grading. Anything that looks like Cleary's are going to now be challenged all the time, until someone suddenly loses the downgrade appeal.

Or it just wasnt worthy of a suspension and it should have been a grade 1.

It wasnt a shot at you. You don't pull that shit.

So they should be. If they are similar to clearys they should all get off because imo it was a grade 1 and was never any grade higher. Clearys that is. I thought Burns would ge toff because he hit him in the neck more than the head.

Plus rushing out of the line increasing the chance of a tackle going bad was treated very harshly.

Ooh yeah, that'll be nice and I'm sure it won't take long to happen with these meatheads.
 
Is there a database somewhere where I can get not just the score of old games, but the stats of how the points were scored and who played in that game?
