POST GAME [Round 5, 2026] - Broncos vs Titans

Scans at the Clive Berghofer Centre’s Qscan facility have confirmed Ben Hunt sustained a grade 3 MCL injury in Saturday night’s game against the Titans.

Based on early medical assessments, Hunt is expected to be sidelined for approximately 6-8 weeks.

Meanwhile, Captain Adam Reynolds has suffered a grade 2 adductor longus strain with an approximate recovery time of 1-2 weeks.

Have to say I've never seen Payne look more relaxed and happier.

Honest question….. @1910 @Big Pete and anyone else that’s been around a long time? I’m an 86 baby…. Was CONEHEAD “behind the scenes” always a ****wit? We all know how he was on the field, but there is always two sides to a human.

It’s beyond embarrassing at this point, he’s probably the most jaded person I’ve ever seen and that’s saying something.
He's a divisive figure but you know where you stand with him. If he's your mate he'll back you to the hilt but if he goes off you then you'd be better off making friends with a brick wall.

His relationship with the Broncos is weird. He obviously loves his former team mates, has a love-hate relationship with Bennett but he's from Townsville. He has that chip on his shoulder and there's an element of tall poppy syndrome when it comes to the club.

From my perspective, Gordie was one of the most personable and outgoing Rugby League personalities. I got the impression he appreciated the fans and was happy to have a yarn and have a laugh.

So definitely two sides, but Gordie also talks a lot of crap.

That video is completely useless because that same type of tackle, where there's no swinging motion and most of the body is already on the ground, has been ruled a hip drop and charged as much multiple times in the past.

Max Plath Round 4 2024 one example.

Can someone with medical background explain how a fully torn MCL (Grade 3) can reattach back together without surgery?

BRIEN said it on twitter but I can’t get my head around it

I think i can help a little.
Very good blood supply compared to most ligaments. If clean enough tear and no other ligaments, together with a brace and little to no movement initially (just bed exercises with a range of motion brace locked) can allow for scar tissue to stick it together then it will heal.
Modern medicine/surgery is amazing to me in that we have now realised that our body is designed to heal itself. We have gone from "we need to fix it" to "how can we let the body fix it", and this one is a great example.

Just give the body a jump start with peptides.

This comment will likely be deleted. But having worked with injuries/surgeries my entire adult life there is a zero percent chance they are not on peptides. Impossible right! Sharks either side of a premiership year says hello. Every single sporting franchise has access to the same sports science, yes some years you get it perfect, some years you have luck, but not 6 years in a row. Its freakishly lucky and unheard of in this age of sport that a team will be so far ahead with their fitness for that long.

The amount of peptides and new performance enhancers that get released yearly is insane as well. Nrl would follow ASADA protocols but if you looked through the list they wouldn't be able to keep up with the constant iterations of PEDs that are on the market. I really do wonder exactly how strict the testing protocols are, according to ASADA Protocols anything that gets picked up in blood tests that suggests doping patterns of Performance enhancing gets flagged so I imagine it would be very hard to get away with doping unless you found a substance that doesn't directly affect blood markers. This basically means if teams where doping NRL is aware and doesn't say anything or they simply don't follow proper procedures for drug testing so that unidentified peptides are never found out.

It's impossible to believe that none of their regular star players have copped a season ender, not even one of them.

If Cleary, Yeo or Edwards get an injury, you can probably write off their season. Edwards, maybe not as much, be really hard to replace though. Cleary or Yeo? She's all over.

What exactly is the problem with them in sport? If they aid in recovery aren’t they a good thing?
