I reckon if Canterbury turn up with their best defensive display, they can worry Penrith. I just don't know if they can score enough points to beat them.

Victor Radley returning this week.

Roosters puffed their chests out about the punishment they handed him but they counted the internationals, two trials that he probably wouldn't have played in (at least not both) and a bye week towards his suspension.

So he's really only been banned for 5 Roosters games. Setting the standard alright....

Which itself had already softened substantially from the Politis "contract torn up" schtick. But a junior or fringe 1st grader wouldn't have had the same latitude.

Nothing better than breaking out the old 'hamstring' issues to drop an out of form player. Gutho is struggling this season and when the Dragons have found themselves in games he's been unable to step up. Sloan isn't a long term option and he's too selfish but he can find the try line so it might be enough to get them out of their funk.

The Flanagan/Atkinson halves pairing was always strange. I don't rate Flanagan but if he's going to be in the team than he has to be the game managing get to your kick get your strike players early ball halfback. Whereas Atkinson is at his best when he's got a quick play the ball, take the line on go down the short-side. It was almost like the coach was trying to placate the media by miscasting both guys.

I just wonder how long it's going to take before Reed gets his opportunity? I'm not convinced but he's shaping up as another short term option that will win them a game or two.

I keep thinking back to Cronulla 2015. They started the season 0-4 and found themselves going head to head with competition heavyweights the Sydney Roosters. They pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season with Jack Bird playing a starring role. That would ultimately springboard them into premiership contention.

When you look back at Flanagan's success it was off the back of smart retention and recruitment. He wasn't afraid to move players on and usually brought in a good mixture of under-valued veterans and promising prospects to flesh out the roster. I think he's been too loyal to the squad he inherited and he really ought to have moved more players on. I just think the balance is all wrong and it's taking longer than it should for the club to turn things around.

Dogs have started very hot defensively. 2 great sets preventing Penriths metres out of yardage. Gotta keep it up

Dogs starting great. Full of great running! Hopefully they can keep it up.

Yeah that looked like big contact on King at the time

Farout, has Galvin played a better 10 mins ever? His ball work has been sharp

That should be a penalty.

Edwards can't tackle him wen he's kicking the ball...
