Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

Duffy also seems a reliable goal kicker too. Does pezet take conversions as well? I guess everything hinges on what Ben hunt is doing?

Is shouldn't hinge on what Hunt is doing.

unless Hunt is significantly better than Duffy or Pezet, he should remain as a bench / depth playertime to activate the Reynolds succession plan in 2027

I'd say Walsh takes over the kicking when Reyno retires... unless Duffy gets the 7

I meant it depends whether hunt stays at the club. If he retires or leaves we are then lacking depth in the halves which probably means we’ll need both Duffy and pezet as coverage. I’ve read a few comments here about some people not even wanting pezet here

Which I think is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

That opinion is being formed on a very short run of games with a new club and who already have a dominant halfback. So Pezet is playing out of position, in a new team, with new structures etc. The kid is finding his feet, it's really unfair to judge him based on those performances IMO.

He is a good one - as is Duffy. That competition is a ****ing great thing to have. It will also keep Mam honest because if those two are knocking down the door, Mam might be the one to find himself on the bench. It's not a bad problem to have and I'm stoked we've got them both.

It'll be free for all for halfback next year between Bunt, Duffy and Pezet.

Duffy is putting his hand up this year though, let's see how the rest of the year goes for him.

Only unproven player is Pezet, i haven't seen his kicking and game management at large yet, he has only shown glimpses at Storm and has sucked for Eels thus far.

And we all know that Bunt can do a job if Duffy or Pezet for some reason can't get it done. But yeah, we will have to be set on the halfback by the end of Bunts contract, if he is given one.

Bunt is a fallback plan if anything.

Duffy deserves a 2 yr extension at least. I think he is our best 7 moving into next year on current form. Really like how he speaks off-field also, says the right things and is not getting ahead of himself, just puts in the work and is now getting rewarded.
The 2027 halves will be interesting but I think Pezet and Anasta would quietly be a little worried. Will be interesting to see if we can lock Duffy down if another club enquires about Pezet. He has certainly been underwhelming so far this season.
Another thing I like about Duffy is the fact he decided to come here with Reynolds and Hunt Infront of him. He was happy to come down and learn off those 2, bide his time in cup and battle it out with Coby Black for the future 7.
Coming into 2027 he will have a year under his belt at the club learning how his teammates train and play, being a 7 this a important thing.
Does good things for your development.

It would be good to have competition between Pezet and Duffy. You'd have to think Pezet still has more potential but Duffy was really impressive in his last 2 games here. Hopefully he can be re-signed, but who knows, the media goes crazy whenever the Broncos have competition for a spot and pushes one of the players out.

Alfie is on the Duffy to succeed Reynolds train.

Alfie said:

“Tom Duffy has proven to me he is a first grader,”

“He has shown all the determination to be the No.7 and he can definitely do it after Reynolds.

“He just has to keep improving and he will get more chances this year.

“The Broncos have a lot of injuries at the moment so this is his chance to stake his claim for the job.”

“I was really impressed with the field goal he took the other week which nearly got the victory,” Alfie said.

“Even coming on the field the other night against the Roosters, it’s like he has been playing first grade for a number of years. He just has a level head and he is doing a great job.

“He is a natural halfback. He has a great kicking game, he can pass and he has vision as well. He has all the skills. He has a lot of enthusiasm and he isn’t daunted by playing first grade.

“That’s why he came to Brisbane so I’m sure he can take his chance long term.”

“At the end of the day, he is part of a great team and there is always expectation with any NRL club,” Langer said.

“As premiers, the expectation are always high, and there’s always pressure at the Broncos, but I think Duffy has the composure to handle it.”

Madge said:

“Tom has been really good for us,”

“He is really composed and that’s the experience he is gaining now.

“Reyno and Tom always talk, they spend a lot of time together, that’s not just on the field but off the field too.

“Reyno has been doing it for 16 years and he has been great for Tom.

“It’s a great education for him to be around players like that, it will really help his career.”

Hunt: Most experienced guy in the league, older but has done it all.

Pezet: Sought-after 'star of the future' who's getting a year of starts at NRL level.

Duffy: Offcast young Qlder who's shone at every limited opportunity.

Bloody great problem to have. And Mam shouldn't be playing like his jersey's safe either.

It's madness because we really do not need another hooker, but he was very good for us, and huge in the 25' end of year run. He is especially handy in the 6-man bench era because he can cover hooker and lock (even prop - IYKYK).

I can't imagine he'll have too much trouble finding a club.

Its the fact he can play as a middle too though, he is unique really, he covers a range of positions very few can.

Concerned about Pezet. He didn't light it up before his injury and with Volkman impressing we could very well see Pezet play reserve grade for the season.

Apparently he played well last week in reserve grade but got suspended for a hip drop and is available next week. If he doesn't get selected for round 11 that is not a good sign.
