POST GAME [Round 10, 2026] - Broncos vs Sea Eagles

Mam is a player that thrives in chaos and with room to move. Our backs last week got belted and our forwards are too decimated to do anything other than tackle. This really limits what Mam can do and you know what, most halves struggle behind teams getting belted in yardage.

Manly doubled our metres last week and this is not abnormal since losing Haas, Piakura and Jensen, so he is not getting the time and space he needs to be electric. But the Dogs game showed how good he is when we get an even shake of the yardage / possession.

I want Mam back in at full strength but we need big boots while we can't make metres - this is why I would drop him until the cavalry returns - purely to get Duffy and Reynolds' boots in.

Big kicks can be good .
The old cliche though the kick is only as good as the chase . And in this era the next 2 tackles after are where the meterage battle is won and lost .
Stopping momentum on those early tackles makes a world of difference . Because the middles are still not behind the play the ball . Even better if you can manage to drive the catcher back a few metres . The middles get stuck behind the defence line and out of play .

I thought the hang time on Duffy`s kicks was outstanding in the last game he started .
That extra time in the air allows more time for the defence to arrive over the 40 -50 m the kick needs to travel .
In Reyno we trust Kevvie says ...

Who would you put in his place though? All well and good saying drop him, but what's the other option/s?
That is true, you do have to replace him. There are not many half's coming off contract at the end of this year. Early on i said i would look at Tanah Boyd. Got laughed at, told he was in a flash in the pan. However he's now ousted Luke Metcalf, got a shit load more Dally M points compared to Mam and an option for Queensland. Im not convinced by Pezet either. But my opinion is that Mam is so bad now, do we really want a Milford type situation again where we waste 3 years hoping he will come good. Even worse do we waste 3 years of some of our other best players because of Mam. I would even look at Billy before Mam if he can come back as strong.

"Mam is so bad now", really? We'll see how he goes when we get our troops back. So far, he's shown none of the signs that Milford showed. He has a great attitude & is hungry to learn and improve where he needs to.

Ive not seen any of that, but lets hope you're right. How long do you give him to improve if he needs to?

2 weeks ago he was outstanding .
Last week his forwards got monstered .

He was keeping up with one of the fastest in the comp , but he is now slow .

Also as far as replacing him . He is a #6 who plays on the left . Where does Tanah play ?

Its week 11 and hes only had one good game so far(the Bulldogs). Other players have played well (apart from last week) during the injury crisis. So its no excuse. Wouldn't you think as one of the most important players on the park, he should have stepped up whilst waiting for the troops to come back?

Your seem determined to keep trying to have a go at me. Next year Ren will be gone and there will be a few new options. I'll leave it at that. I have mentioned a few times that I think this is a long term issue. But if your want to swap him out next week to suit you that's fine.

The recency bias is strong here. This is Tanah Boyd we're talking about, who did nothing of note for years, is finally having a good run, in halfback mind you, not five-eight where he'd be for us, and you want to ship out a player who would have won the Clive in 23' (Best on ground until Chin did his thing), and was absolutely pivotal in winning us a comp at the back end of last year.

Boyd also did next to nothing in a team that had no go forward, for several years, because it's difficult, especially for young halves, to do much of anything when your packs being destroyed.

Then we want to talk Origin, and Mam is just as much an option for Queensland anyways, not to start obviously, but he's been in camp and easily could feature again this year.

Sure, he ousted Metcalf, but did you see how ordinary Metcalf was in the 2 games he played upon return? Their partnership together didn't work either because both want to play 7.

Dally M points.. I feel we're stretching here, his teams going well and he has been good in some wins. We've had half a team out, no go forward, a changing spine every week, of course Tanah is going to have more points. They're 2nd on the table and he's the halfback.

I think the previous stuff we've seen from Ezra grants him time to sort whatever is going on this year. Ideally Piakura gets fit and stays fit because he plays far better with Brendan next to him too. As a 6 for the Broncos, I just think Ezra has way more upside than whoever else we could get at 6, including Boyd.

Not taking away from Boyd's season either, he's been very good obviously.

I have no doubt, whether you are prepared to admit it or not, that you are one of the people who wanted Walsh gone last year when he was going through his rough patch...

Well to begin with Mam was one of the only guys from the GF team to be at preseason training in November... so he was there slogging it out to prep himself for the upcoming season.

Any calls that he's lazy are pretty ridiculous... you can argue his form on the field, but his mentality off it is polar opposite to Milf

He also saved us in the titans game after Walsh went off.

I think it's the presence of Walsh that affects him.

He has to play as a cog in the backline to get the ball to Walsh, whereas when he's not there he has to take on far more ownership and he typically does.

I've not said his attitude is similar to Milf. I've said for what ever reason he not good enough anymore and I don't want the club to waste 3 years finding that out. (Similar to Milf)

Have a go at you ?
No , I just don`t agree with your statements and I explain why .

Having a go at you would be getting personal . I`m debating your opinion . Not insulting you .

If you want to have a conversation I`m up for it . Playing victim when people have a different opinion is a horse of another colour .

So you want to debate my opinion. 🤣

knee jerk reactions like looking to replace mam and chase the new shiny in boyd is really a bulldogs way of thinking, reality is if we werent getting hammered by injuries atm we are likely sitting in and around the top 4 with the players we have
I don't disagree that without injuries we would be sitting higher. I can only keep saying what i have said before, is that i don't think Mam consistently contributes enough for the money he is being paid and its preventing us from buying someone else. Boyd i don't believe is knee Jerk, but you are intitled to your opinion. I was asked early on who i would replace Mam with and after looking at who is off contract at the end of this year. I thought he was a good option seeing as he was and still is playing really well (yes even at halfback). He has a great kicking game which Mam doesnt and we will need that next year with Ren retiring. I would have liked to say someone like Cleary or Munster but sadly they are not off contract.

Nope, we don’t have to wait at all as unlike the lazy prick, Ezra will turn things around from R17 which is when we’ve almost a full strength team barring CJ & BW.
