Outside of Gkolomeev and Ben Proud the swim meet was always going to be pathetic. Ben goes well without it, and, outside of freestyle, swimmers have not been tapering for 50m events for almost ever, because they've not been olympic events.

We need to remember that they were also wearing supersuits (non textile), which, IMO, given this mid AF talent pool has benefitted them as much as the roids.

Put Cam Mcevoy in that supersuit during his 20.88 swim and he's swimming 20.7s, Pan Zhanle and David Popovici would do be half a body length infront of this roid freak with the suits too.

James Magnussen lmao. The only thing more embarrassing than today for him was that time he sat in Bernard Tomic's friends and family box.

I guess I haven't and don't follow swimming enough, but with what limited bits I had heard about these enhanced games, and I guess it would vary depending on where that news was coming from, was that it was expected that multiple WRs would be beat. That clearly was not the case.

It was just a laughable event as far as world swimming was concerned. They knew that the only way they'd get close was asking some really big dogs like Sjostrom and Chalmers, but they obviously didn't want to take a dump on their legacy. James Magnussen already had with his behaviour in London. It's quite tragic what he's become.

They'd then scrambled and were like EVERYONE GET A SUPERSUIT!!!

The suits are the key. I swam in one once and it was absolutely wild. You know when you'd have like a plastic cup and submerge it underwater upside down with the air trapped and it would shoot up? It felt like your body was propelled by an air pocket like that after diving in and getting to your 'break out' (where you come to surface with first stroke). They were outlawed shortly after 2009 world champs in Rome where 43 (!!!) world records were broken. Some of which still survive, and a few have only been broken in the last 2 years.

They were giving a million bucks for beating a world record. Pretty big carrot.

I don't think this was much to do with sport TBH.
It's more about destigmatising anti ageing drugs.
The FDA approved peptides which the athletes used, were used off label, to showcase the anti ageing potential.
This was all about positioning in a commercial space to make multi billions of $$$.

Doubt it will make much of a difference to the stigma attached to testosterone but my hope is that trt for men becomes as acceptable as hrt for women every guy over 40 should be on some level of testosterone imo
