Lets put this to bed: Madge was the right call over Kevie

No one agrees with this argument though, no need to give it air space. It just sounds like a guy who is desperate to be right that all logic goes out the window. Its stupid, so just ignore it.

What @Big Pete said.

Old mate's made a comment midway through the season and is as stubborn as a mule, so naturally, nothing presented there after will change his mind. Which is consistent with everything else I have seen him debating about on here.

He has no credibility.

2015 year in review from NRL.com

A season which started with such promise ended in frustration and disappointment as untimely injuries and suspensions derailed South Sydney's premiership defence. It was never going to be easy backing up the feats of the 2014 campaign, but impressive pre-season and early-season form looked set to carry the Rabbitohs all the way through to another title decider. However with the absence of key personnel from last year's squad coupled with members of the current roster spending time on the sidelines for a variety of reasons the squad's depth was put to the test, with an emerging group of young players seemingly not yet at the stage of their development to match it with the NRL's best on a weekly basis.

This thread will be a rollercoaster, whether you think it was right or not, end of the day, we got a premiership out of it.

We will lose games, the naysayers will have their fun.

We will win games, the naysayers will take up pressure hosing their roofing or whatever they need to do to avoid reading this thread.

However, it always comes back to the fact, we won a comp under Madge. Whether or not you classified that season as a weaker season or whatever, it doesn't matter. The trophy is in the cabinet.

I’m not saying sack Madge, but I think a good rule of thumb is sack any coach who misses finals twice

We are scared to move off our line. We are scared to hold down, even on dominant tackles. You can’t be in a game without those two things. The refs and NRL have penalised us out of games.

This basically looks like 2024, just with less injury excuses, Madge has way more credit in the bank with the prem though.

I didn't agree with Kev being sacked but in hindsight it looked like the right decision, but I sure as hell don't agree with Madge being sacked either, if that is even being asked.

I feel like the teams momentum works with Walsh tbh, and if you look at it like that it makes sense in both cases.

A temperamental generational talent that bends the entire teams will to his own.

I'm sorry did you say "less injury excuses"?

holy ****, we mustn't have been able to put anyone from our top 30 on the field in 2024 if that year had more injuries than we've had in 2026 so far

Key players wise and how we played I think we had it worse in 2024.

We've had injuries, no doubt. I thought we did well though through that period, we actually snagged a few wins.

These past 2 weeks though? The players we have had out there should be able to get it done, you would expect them to win those games. Our chances this season are slipping quickly, everyone knew with Madge was the caveat was. He comes in, he's a hard taskmaster, he's had short term success. With Souths, they went to shit real quick after winning the comp, which as a Souths fan you would probably accept that, they hadn't won it in ages. We are a very demanding fanbase because that's the DNA of the club, winning comps.

He's done well, coached the team to a premiership but this right now is the Madge test.

I’m going to hold off until I see how the team and specifically Walsh goes without Reynolds and Hunt in the side, who we decide to go with out of Duffy, Pezet and Mam, and if we happen to find some ****ing second-rowers so we don’t have to have JetSki in the side

Madge obviously has a lot in the bank, but he’s going to need to not have the team fall in a complete heap this year, and will need at least a solid season and finals appearance with a team that looks like they know what they’re doing at an absolute minimum to stave off any rumblings next year

Madge won us a premiership. Kevvie would of had it not been for Reynos brain fart. At the end of the day the players have got to put in the effort which they did last year. It would appear that for some of them it's a case of job done and they are not prepared to work hard to get it done again. Kobe, Smoothy and Billy have been massive losses this season and I hate to say it, but so to has Cobbo.
