Can’t agree with this. I’ve beaten plenty of addictions.
Those who have successfully quit, there’s always a risk of the addiction returning, which is called a relapse.

I think you can be critical of how he refs without assuming hes corrupt and betting on games. The people that think the origin call is rubbish is just going to use this as fuel to reaffirm what they already thought.
For the record I thought it was a shit call, but im not making the (il)logical leap that it was borne out of him chasing gambling losses
Like.. maybe hes just a shit ref but let's be honest, does anyone rate any ref? Is every ref corrupt and betting? Who was the last that was unanimously agreed was a great ref and never endured any controversy or scrutiny over their calls?

Haha it wasn't a gotcha, I was just adding a bit more to it.You edited your post, that was sneaky.
To answer your question before you edited it, yes, this ref is.
There is one. Peter Gough. Yall have an amazing record under him apparently so that means he is RATED.I think you can be critical of how he refs without assuming hes corrupt and betting on games. Not the pokies, that’s for sure. I see right through those stupid things these days. Those who have successfully quit, there’s always a risk of the addiction returning, which is called a relapse.
That must mean he is a master of corruption. Gives every team a taste of the genius bettor.Every single team’s fanbase hates Klein. It’s pure incompetence.
What terrible record of betting scandals and punishments do they have?Whether he has influenced games or not, the naive person in this conversation is anyone suggesting the NRL would have looked into it professionally and objectively. They have a terrible record of this kind of thing.
Given the NRL is bankrolled by gambling companies, it is not in their interests to do so.
This is not saying Klein is corrupt or not, it is just a statement of reality. There are also way more ways to stand by him than by letting him continue to ref. They could easily given him a desk job.
Of course some fans are going to read into this what they want and fair enough. This is a very bad look for a very unprofessionally run professional organisation.
Imagine if the public found out that that FIFA knew the lead ref for the world cup was an ex-gambler with a significant debt / loss of money as a result. No one in their right mind would be ok knowing this ref had handled the WC final/finals repeatedly.

Like I said, enough to cover their backsides but I doubt they were really that thorough with their investigation. If he was betting on games and somebody found out they absolutely would care. Its risking their business.

All I’m saying “once an addict always an addict” is a bullshit description. We all have vices. Every single one of us, some worse than others doesn’t mean you can’t beat them. That's great, but some do struggle, though they may not 'play' them it will tempting for them.
I still dont get why they would just do the bare minimum? It is catastrophic to your business model if corruption is found. They have no reason to not take it seriously.Like I said, enough to cover their backsides but I doubt they were really that thorough with their investigation.
Innocent until proven guilty, not corrupt just incompetent, yadda yadda yadda I don't think it's smart to let your officials get involved in sports gambling.
Doubt I’ll ever get back on the ciggies too.
