Just when I start to lose confidence I see what Mr Laurie Daley chucks up.

I have been a big critic of Haumole before but he was objectively good in that game 1. Comes out and plays a stormer his next game. Record PCM and he is dropped for albeit a good player in Lucas but a guy that has never played right backrow in his life and its his debut. Haumole couldnt even make it onto the bench? Strange decision making.

It's laughable this comp has an "Integrity Unit".
It's a reasonable decision from the NRL come off it. Would just be throwing Klein to the wolves when they have already come out and said the right decision was made. Any organisation willing to throw there employees to the wolves like that over a request from the courier mail of all things doesn't have there priorities right. I don't agree with the call or the process, but its been 3 weeks, move on. Nobody gets anything out of carrying on some more and blaming the ref all over again.

But the guy has been outed as having / had a gambling issue and he has made a decision where it appears he has directly overruled the bunker who have more angles / out of the heat of battle (yes I know they are often even worse than the actual on field ref but not the point here) that has resulted in a MASSIVE impact on the result of a game, that decision, right or wrong, directly resulted in Queensland losing.

If he is thrown to the wolves so be it, his entire credibility has been bought into question. This is no comment whatsoever indicating he is guilty or not of match fixing / impacting results, it is just a statement that it is basically untenable that he referee game 2. The very best case is that he is put on gardening leave for this game as a bare minimum. State that the reason for this is to protect his mental health or whatever, he simply should not be refereeing game 2.

There will be a / some controversial / key 50/50 decisions that he is going to be torn to shreds over and what leg will he have to stand on? Annersley will probably then just also throw him under the bus because that guy is an absolute idiot and will just agree with whoever is screaming the loudest.

This is my thoughts on it as well. If there is one controversial call he will be absolutely destroyed by the media, fans etc over it. For his own mental state, he should not be controlling this game.

Perhaps it will be the first game with zero penalties, six agains or sin bins?

They should be transparent with every decision. Only a complete idiot could possibly think hiding this audio is a good idea. Picking and choosing what they let people hear and what they dont just isnt a good look.

It just raises people's suspicions even harder, and this is well after the stench of gambling around the sport has been at the forefront. Lets not kid ourselves, people have been side eyeing the game over this for at least as long as V'Landys has been CEO.

The mood around the world right now in regards to things like corruption, cronyism, grubby Capitalism which gambling absolutely is, and general lack of trust in authority is not great, and that mood tends to color perceptions.

although if what was said is what the NRL claimed was said, then releasing the audio would clear things up and likely put an end to the conversation.

the NRL are saying that the bunker told Klein it was a "minimum" of a sin bin. so if that is what was actually said to Klein, why the **** wouldn't you just release the audio recording ... unless you are trying to hide what was actually said

The fact they won't release it speaks volumes. I'm quite convinced at this point no-one involved in the administration of the game could lie straight in their ****ing beds.

Maybe the bunker was just giving him the latest odds and that’s why they won’t release it? It fits.

Klein: “I’m thinking this is a send off”

Bunker: “A send off isn’t actually paying that much”

Klein: “I understand that mate but it’s direct contact to the head”
