Him continuing as a ref, particularly in big games is becoming about as untenable as it can be - so the NRL will continue to just do this:

Irrespective of what happens down the track with this, there's no way in hell he should be refereeing the Origin. Probably best if he doesn't ref any games for the next few weeks tbh.

This isn't even because I think he's dodgy/clean it's for the game itself and his mental state. I don't care how mentally tough someone thinks they are, when he inevitably has to make a tough call, the other side is going to absolutely blow up about it and hammer him left right and center.

Cambridge dictionary says you are wrong about that…..

Being "in the hole" financially means owing money or being in debt. It describes a situation where you have spent more than you have, resulting in a negative balance or a financial shortfall

Anyway, semantics. Fourex literally called it a debt.

This is a fair argument for his omission.

Yeah, this. Whilst I find the whole situation an extraordinarily bad look, his mental state must be totally shot and his welfare considered a priority. He’s ****ed up, but I’d hate to see him do something drastic as a result.
 
Looking forward to him being scapegoated and he then comes out as whistleblower for all the dirty shit that's gone on behind the scenes with 6-agains, tip sheets & deliberate game management.

Then again he’s probably been abused by fans relentlessly since he started reffing. He probably has a certain immunity to it.
