POST GAME 2026 State of Origin

What a win!! Was a great game!

Had a mate (NSW supporter) tell me that Seibold would be better than Daley 😆 - poor bastards.
 
That was a fun night at the game and nice to hear it was a record crowd. It actually felt a pretty even split between Qld and NSW fans. One of the best bits was the ‘New South Wales’ chants turning into ‘Queenslander’ by the end of easy stanza.

The pre-game was stunning, I’m pretty sure they got Ray Warren to voice it which if so was amazing. I was surrounded by NSW fans so it ended up being a fun night in the crowd.

Some of those tries were epic and so good to see live. Staggs might have played one of the worst origins of all time and how he wasn’t sent off I’ll never know. Radley was a binning to every other player in the game, no idea why he is so protected.

Cobbo - wow. Bring him home please. How the heck did we not see it with Plath as well? How is our R&R so dumb. How did we screw up signing Walker?

Ponga is such a complete player man. Walsh has all the flash but Ponga has that and is super dependable. Grant just nailed everything.

Man seeing so many of our ex-players carving up was actually really sad, particularly when our two current players were among the worst on the field.

Where's all the people ridiculing Billy Slaters selections like they were on here pre game 1?

If Ponga doesn't get sent off in game 1, QLD already have the series wrapped up, beating NSW easily in each game.

I think Billy just knows the type of player that needs to play origin, whether or not they may be the flashiest or most fancied players.
 
Staggs is way too loose to do well at Origin. I'd say they've stamped him never to play again.

As for Laurie, how can someone be such a good player but such a clueless, terrible coach. His tenure has been a very successful one for Qld.

He’s very lucky his opposing coach is one of the worst to ever do it, because decisions like Loiero and Nikora would be the downfall of any other coach

Nah, they aren't huge calls in the grand scheme of things. The big calls he has nailed and how well he gets the spine syncing much more important.
 
They got the Staggs sin bin right. That isnt a send off because he did wrap his arm unlike Ponga even though I think Koula was falling which should have dropped that one to a sin bin also but radleys first shot has to be a sin bin. He runs out of the line and smashes him but even though its more head you cant keep allowing it

I don't know what he was looking at also with the Robson shoulder charge. I swear he didnt give that a penalty because the contact didnt really budge collins. Bad call.

I thought Klein got all the charge down calls right even the Plath and the first one just before the first penalty goal on NSW one on rewatch. You can't just sprint out at the kicker and just because you turn your back negate it all. Thats a charge down now and has been all year for the most part. Would be different if they was passive and just jogging and turned around from 6 or 7m away and got hit.

I thought Klein was good tbh. Again both teams tested him in the ruck. QLD did it much better. NSW had a dramatically slower play the ball speed but that doesnt always tell the full story but it was 0.37sec longer on average. And he blew the 6 agains that needed to be but didnt blow the pea out of it. Only really one I thought was harsh was on Tino in that first half.

The fact he is so concerned about capewells lines are strange. He kept getting caught in all night. Tbf Cleary had one of his worst defensive games ever and maybe he had no faith
 
Former and current Broncs from last night:

Cobbo - 10 - game of his life
Staggs - 1 - contender for worst origin performance ever
Walker - 8 - terrible long kicking but what a clutch player, that goal kicking was elite
Flegler - 6 - yeah he dropped it but otherwise was pretty solid
Haas - 3 - did he even play?
Capewell - 7 - watching him live it is amazing how he just gets the job done and runs such good lines repeatedly
Plath - 9 - I simply want to cry, that’s it
Collin - 8 - He is amazing every time he puts the origin jersey on, the new Nate Myles
Walsh - 0 - Ran more metres than anyone up and down the sideline, not good enough to make the side

Yeah agree. In saying that, Staggs is a liability in defence and just not overly bright. His reads are pretty poor a lot of the time but just relies on his pace and aggression to make up for it. When smart teams target his side, points follow.

Yeah that side looked like leaking all night. Nawaq is no defensive genius either despite his offensive exploits.
 
It’s funny at the game we were screaming for Qld to go left and once they figured that out and did it the game was over. The right NSW defense was like Swiss cheese all night.
 
I haven't been watching many club games, is Plath as impressive in club land as much as he was in Origin? Maybe the Broncos can steal him in the future.
