Yeah, and if Jensen doesn't make it back due to his clotting issue. Our middles are looking grim next season.Semu in a vacuum is a great signing, he has shown a lot this year. The non-vacuum flip side though is that we still don't know what his chest issue was. If it was heart related, he might be done before he even began sadly. It would be good for the club to come and say something, either that it is serious or not even if they don't give details.
Piki on the other hand is not a kid and he's been a journeyman for a reason. His first game was decent and he has just gotten progressively worse. He is looking like Tawha - two very poor recruitment decisions.
So we didn't even play on the weekend, but our majority shareholder still managed to write no less than 3 negative articles about us. All of which have a bit of a dig at our premiership winning coach.
The first one was about Te'o leaving and the "Te'o Effect"
The second was about how "Cobbo's resurrection" at the Phins is another "black eye" for us after Cobbo struggled to adapt to life under Madge. Most of the article was about his performance for QLD rather than for the Phins, but they do have a Cobbo quote about how Wolfe helped rebuild his confidence... FTR, Cobbo never shit on Madge or the club
The third was about how Billy "broke" Payne Haas and how if rivals follow his blueprint it spells trouble for us.
Not to come across like sour grapes but his NSW performances really do show that Payne is missing some intangible at this point in his career. The timing is very odd. I get the Te'o one tbf. The Payne one, well, he's never been as consistently brilliant for nsw as he has for the Broncos, but he's still never had many bad games for the grubs.
The Cobbo article is off to me. He's played brilliantly for the Broncos, then he's let himself down through his application. It’s not like he has been out of this world every week for the Phins, he's just on a hot streak for a team thats on a hot streak.

He is all effort, he is a freak athlete but he just doesn’t add that much to the success or his teams.
It’s really hard to figure out. Maybe it’s aggression or something. He chips away endlessly motoring along at 80% for massive minutes.
Never has put on a big hit, rarely has a run that makes you gasp due to the heavy contact.
It’s really weird because he is elite in pretty much every tangible measure.
I think Hass is just a decent forward, but can do it much longer and consistent than most other players (which is where the "elite" part comes in).Not to come across like sour grapes but his NSW performances really do show that Payne is missing some intangible at this point in his career.

Funnily enough Payne's best origin series was probably 2024 under Madge... but if you listen to the media he's apparently now leaving because of Madge. The timing is very odd. I get the Te'o one tbf. But the lack of physicality and aggression is basically only evident in defence.Hard to argue with any of that. Must admit, i've always said with him he lacks aggression and physicality.
I was thinking about this while I was studying Tawha but that era of Warea-Hargreaves is over. If you try to emulate it, you end up like Kaufusi or Asofa-Solomona and you're effectively stamped out of the game. He's got different strengths and you need to blend it with other forwards. We have both him and Carrigan who are just machines really, but we lack a forward who can really hit hard and intimidate.
I'd still take Webcke over him every day of the week.

It seems to be more about pushing off the line than actually looking to put hits on.
Jay dubya wasn't known as a hitter .I was thinking about this while I was studying Tawha but that era of Warea-Hargreaves is over. If you try to emulate it, you end up like Kaufusi or Asofa-Solomona and you're effectively stamped out of the game.
