Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

BREAKING NEWS: The Brisbane Broncos have secured their most exciting young superstar in decades, signed for 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029 and 2030.

Head Coach Michael Maguire may or may not have said:
“Some players bring speed, some bring strength — but this bloke brings 40 years of experience and zero fear. That’s something you can’t train.”

Team Captain Adam Reynolds is said to have mentioned:
“The club has been begging me to come out of retirement and enter the development list. I'm excited to see the direction the club is going in. And yes, I'm also in the finishing touches of a new 10 year contract myself.”

Assistant Coach Matt Ballin is reported as saying:
“He might not be the fastest, but he sees the game three plays ahead. It’s like having a coach on the field… we think we are catering to the NRL's new meta.”

Development List member Cam Bukowski possible chimed in:
“He told me he used to play before I was born. Absolute legend but I'm thinking of signing with the Melbourne Storm.”

Club CEO Dave Donuts Donaghy is excited:
“This is the kind of signing that changes a club’s culture. Toughness, grit, and a bit of company for our many injured players in the rehab program.”

Fellow recruit Mitch Barnett is excited:
“Honestly, it’s a relief running beside him. If anything goes wrong, he just takes the hit and forgets what happened anyway, business as usual basically.”

Commentator Corey Parker is a fan:
“Broncs have offered me a five year deal at marquee money, I like the direction the club is going. For the first time in 20 years, it feels like the old Broncos again."

Te'o also did all three- edge, ruck/middle and wrestle/contact. A lot of clubs have three people doing those three roles. Add in blue shirt which he was very good at and that's four things that need replacing.

You're not getting four coaches mid season.

Maguire has taken it on.
So, is the plan to fill in 4 different personnel or we’ll just have to wait until the end of season to find out what MM’s plans are?

This is his opportunity to get his type of crew after all so I hope the club has given all the freedom to pick “capable” crew.

Madge picked all the current assistants.

I reckon Barrett, Teo, Ballin were all here before MM aren’t they? All of them were Kevv’s picks if I remember correctly.

Madge picked them, he was given the choice and the could have said he didn't want any of them. Siebold sacked Bennett's staff day one.

Yeah, I remember that very well. It was brutal from that guy & disliked him since that very day.

On the contrary, MM has been successful(almost) to wherever he has been. Hopefully, he finds us a great D coach that complements his style of coaching.

Hooper on his pod this morning saying Gags is heading to Brisbane.
Hooper also claiming that people at souffs have approached Madge about releasing Payne pre June 30 pending if we are to lose this week. Basically saying that our season is done, free up 300k and give us Payne now. Im about 100% confident we aren't allowing that.
Melb happy to let Howarth and Chan go for 2027.
I still expect Shiba to be at Melb.

Just tell Wayne we'll think about it knowing damn we'll we aint doing it... and then tell the **** to **** off on June 30

I'm still keen on Howarth if he is on a 300k deal or less. I'd also be looking to use him as a second-rower more than centre. I still think he's going to be a decent player.

I think he is on about 800k at Melb, crazy coin for him but the club went all in thinking he was the future. I can't see them covering 500k unfortunately

If we give Melbourne an out on that cooked Howarth deal we deserve a collapse. LET THEM SUFFER

It makes no sense; you signed him to a five-year deal which has one year left. You've invested four years in him. Releasing him now one year early makes no sense to me. Their Cup team is terrible so nothing there.

It was only 500k a year, which in today's player terms he's probably delivering on. You release him you still have to go out and buy another 500k centre.

They will replace him with Shibasaki which is a strange one IMO.
